MUTO (an acronym for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) is a designation used by the agency Monarch to refer to newly-discovered monsters in Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse. The term was coined by Bill Randa in the organization's early years. While most MUTOs tend to receive their own specific names from Monarch and henceforth become classified as Titans[1] or superspecies, they are all initially given this designation.
