What if there was no more Godzilla sequels after the original 1954 movie?

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

So I have been wondering about this for a while now since I like playing what if in my head and I was wondering what if we only had the original 1954 Godzilla movie that's it. Like how big of a difference would that make?

MechZilla74 (talkcontribs)

There might still be remakes made, but other than that, we probably wouldn't be here right now.

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

And also the kaiju genre wouldn't probably be around or at the very least no where as popular it is now.

MechZilla74 (talkcontribs)

And several franchises wouldn't be around, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, even Power Rangers would cease to exist.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

King Kong vs. Varan launches the Varan series; Varan becomes synonymous with city-destroying monsters; this site is called Varanopedia.

This is amazing.

MechZilla74 (talkcontribs)

Thanks lol

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Ghidorah has Godzilla-like facial features in VMK

MechZilla74 (talkcontribs)

Ok, someone needs to make this now, i'm too intrigued.

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Or could it be either Mothra or Rodan vs King Kong?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Their films were certainly more successful, but I figured a monster who could grapple would be the best opponent.

I Know nobody really knows but any ideas what it could be they are hinting towards?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

That was posted three days ago, so probably nothing.

What could be declared the worst Godzilla Movie? (besides Godzilla's Revenge)

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

I would say it was Godzilla City On the Edge Of Battle

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)
Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

We also could say the anime trilogy is easily the worst godzilla series

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

G98, no contest. And that's including Godzilla's Revenge.

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

Forgot about that one. I couldn't remember it (thankfully).

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Yeah I agree with that

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Because as Godzilla movies they are both bad

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Not what I said.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

Revenge isn't a great movie by any metric but it's better than most fans would have you think. It probably should be evaluated separately from the other Godzilla movies.

What is your first memory with Godzilla?

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Mine would have to be Godzilla Vs Hedorah and I remember being scared when Hedorah flew over those people and killed them and I started crying because I was a big baby when it came to movies back when I was little

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Some Godzilla '98 stickers, the books Godzilla on Monster Island and Godzilla vs. Gigan and the Smog Monster, and Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies.

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Was Fantastic Dinosaurs of the movies a vhs tape or a book?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Tape.

AngiraBlu (talkcontribs)

Hmm...Probably one single episode of the Hannah Barbera version (the one with the squid), back in 2003.

Then, one of the Atari/Pipeworks games (probably Save the Earth) at a friend's house, but I 1.) didn't know how to play video games yet and 2.) the only ones whose names I could remember, due to flipping through some books a couple years prior, were Godzilla, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla (either SMG or Kiryu). Saw Anguirus and he was immediately my favorite, except I didn't know his name yet. X(

Then, a scene of Godzilla vs. Gigan (still didn't know their names), where King Ghidorah and Gigan head to Earth, while Godzilla and Anguirus swim to Japan.

Then,...(*sigh*)...of course, GODZILLA (1998) in 2013, except it was the latter half of the movie. Fun Fact: Between 2000 and 2002, the tuna pile scene would technically be the 1st, but I didn't know at the time. I just thought it was some super-sized dinosaur that didn't like getting his picture taken.

And FINALLY, Pacific Rim and Godzilla (2014). And I've been a major kaiju fan, since then.

JurassicKaiju14 (talkcontribs)

It was either a Bandai figure of the Final Wars Godzilla sitting on a shelf at my local mall's K-B Toys way back in 2004, or that line in "The Magic School Bus: Spins a Web" where Ralphie says "Only a centipede? That's like saying, 'Oh, it's only Godzilla'!"

SkullIslandExplorer (talkcontribs)

My first memory with Godzilla was Godzilla vs. Biollante on VHS. Unfortunately, due to watching it to death over the years, the tape would break on me, but fortunately, that happened when the Mill Creek DVD was released, so I was able to keep my beloved movie.

Why Godzilla Revenge is not that bad

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

I think Godzilla's Revenge is not bad and actually will say it is kind of underrated

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

Okay then, say it.

Godzillafan03 (talkcontribs)

Because toho was trying to do something like it was mainly a failed execution. Like think about it at the time they a lot of their founding on destroy all monsters and thankfully the film made it's money back, and since that happened it convinced them to create more. But since they only had a small budget for the next movie since it was a year right after they couldn't do a whole lot. As well sure a lot of stock footage is used but at least it tried to match the movie even though Godzilla suit doesn't match with the actual movie. And for the the kid sure he is kind of annoying but if the take the aspect of how annoying he is he isn't a bad protagonist. Like you feel with him throughout the movie like his parents aren't home a lot, he gets bullied, and only has like one or two friends. Because if you look at main protagonists in the some of the other movies he is a lot better than the main characters in something like Godzilla Vs Gigan. Also you want him to escape the criminals too because lets say something like that happens to you in a movie you want to escape and you want the audience to fell for you too. And for the monsters yeah almost all of them are stock footage but its fan favorite monsters that show up monsters like Angurius and Gorosaurous show up, as well one of the most Godzilla suits is in the movie too which is a plus. And finally Minya but to be totally honest he is can be annoying at times but you feel sorry for him too because he gets bullied too and all of the pressure that Godzilla puts him in because if my dad was like that I would feel lonely too. So the message the movie tries to give sure it fails but it at lease it tries tries unlike a movie like Godzilla Vs Megalon. And that's what I have to say about it. All I'm trying to say is sure its not a good movie at all but what we have to do is try to look past the negatives or try to look past the negatives and instead try to look at it in a different perspective.

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

I can agree with that.
