Shimo
|
Shimo[1] is a reptilian monster that will appear in the upcoming 2024 Legendary Pictures film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.[1] It's existance was first alluded to in the 2022 Call of Duty collaboration with Godzilla vs. Kong depected as a cave painting battling Godzilla.[citation needed] It's exact role in the film is currently unknown.
Name
Shimo (霜) is a Japanese word meaning "frost" or "gray hair."
Early leaks and rumors for the film spelled the monsters name as Shimu which would be used as a popular pre-release spelling of the name within the Godzilla fandom.
Design
While marketing for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has yet to reveal Shimo in full, the Jada Toys METALFIGS figure depicts Shimo as a reptilian monster similar to Godzilla himself but with snow white colored skin and dark blue spikes on his back and on the sides of his head.[1]

Trivia

- This article covers the Godzilla design that will appear in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. For the design introduced in Godzilla (2014), see GareGoji. For the design introduced in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, see DougheGoji. For the Godzilla incarnation, see Godzilla (Monsterverse).
The RedskyGoji is the Godzilla design that is going to be used in the 2024 film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Name
"RedskyGoji" came into use as an unofficial nickname for the design among American fans. While the previous Monsterverse Godzilla designs were named after the directors of their films, RedskyGoji is named after its artist, Jared Krichevsky, who suggested the name.[1]
It combines the last three characters of the artist's first and last name (Jared Krichevsky) and Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ).
Detail
RedskyGoji bears some similarities with MireGoji, having prominent scales and spiky dorsal plates with a pink coloration.
