Forum - Kong: Skull Island Drive

Well, a major new movie with a ton of monsters is upon us, and that means a lot of writing ahead. Here's what we need to do to get the site in tip-top shape for Kong: Skull Island.

Bookmark the production notes posted on SciFi Japan, as they'll be invaluable for just about every phase of the drive.

THE FILM:

• Detailed plot summary
• Development section moved to a tab
• Box office data as it comes in
• A robust trivia section
• New TV spots will probably keep pouring in, and other promotional videos may emerge as well

THE MONSTERS:

• King Kong / LegendaryKong, Skullcrawler, Mire Squid, Mother Longlegs, Sker Buffalo, Psychovulture, Leaf Wing, Spore Mantis and potentially more
• All will need fleshed-out histories, personalities, and abilities
• The galleries can be bolstered through the deluge of recent TV spots
  • All images should be from videos with 720p quality or higher, with no black bars visible
  • Let's avoid cell phone footage (out of the post-credits scene), since it'll all have to be replaced with Blu-ray stills in a few months anyway
  • Also, avoid overkill in the galleries - the point is to provide reference images, not document every frame the monster appears in

CHARACTERS:

• James Conrad, Preston Packard, Bill Randa, Mason Weaver, Lin San, Hank Marlow, Houston Brooks, Glen Mills, more if anyone feels up to it
• All will need histories (and trivia, should it emerge)
• The galleries for them should be largely fine the way they are

ACTORS:

• Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, John C. Reilly, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Terry Notary
• Though we may need to scale them back if they start to interfere with smooth functioning of the pages, scour YouTube for all interviews pertaining to the film
• Interviews, along with the production notes, are also excellent sources of trivia

STAFF:

• Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Mary Parent, Max Borenstein, Henry Jackman
• Same procedure as the actors, although information will likely be harder to come by
• Pages for the film's other screenwriters should be added as well

BOOKS:

• Skull Island: Birth of Kong, Kong: Skull Island - The Official Movie Novelization, The Art of Kong: Skull Island
• As of the film's release date, none of these have been released, so we'll deal with them as they become available

TOYS:

• This section seems to be a closed case, but pay attention to the various social media accounts to see if they post anything interesting

UNMADE ASPECTS:

• Kong: Skull Island (Max Borenstein Draft)
• Little is known about this draft, as no script has made its way online yet, but I think enough has been mentioned about it in passing to put together a small page
• Also, I believe at least one monster was cut from the film
