Godzilla Minus One world premiere

Godzilla Stan 54 (talkcontribs)

What called the TIFF Minus One's "world premiere"? I know there was a limited screening on October 18 at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku where the media and some lucky people in the public attended.

Les (talkcontribs)

It was reported as such here, in which Yamazaki also talks about upholding the tradition of Godzilla movies premiering at TIFF.

The announcements of the World Premiere Event (example | example) state that the movie would not be played there, and the screening that did happen on October 18 did not have "premiere" written anywhere; it was called "Completion Announcement Preview."

So, suffice it to say I'm confused about what to call it. Either it wasn't considered to be the premiere, or context was lost in what Yamazaki said.

Godzilla Stan 54 (talkcontribs)

It was a significant screening regardless of if its not called the "world premiere" and it is referred to as the "premiere" on wikipedia so I think the Minus One page needs to include it.

Les (talkcontribs)

It should certainly be mentioned, I just said I wanted time to go over the information some more first.

Godzilla Stan 54 (talkcontribs)

And why did you undo my edits to The New Empire? It premiered in Tokyo on April 18th and the page essentially needs a Box office and Critics reception sections because all Godzilla movie pages I have read have those

Les (talkcontribs)

There should be a source for the Japanese premiere. (It also didn't indicate that it was a premiere, and just looked like two competing dates in the section for Japan.) The rest was written poorly and similarly lacking sources.

El spigre (talkcontribs)

hey Les I had a quick question, so I was looking back on destro-king and shadorah's page and I was trying to fix their pages to be more consistent with the other terror-beasts, with that part in particular being the place of emergence section to replace the origins section cause I remember you doing that before. if you can help with this that would be much appreciated.

minor bump

The article for Godzilla's Evolved form's design is almost complete; all that's left is to give it a name. How does naming designs work?

Cohozilla (talkcontribs)

Typically, the Godzilla suits had their own names. However, designs like ShinGoji, DougheGoji, and GyuraGoji don't have official names, so fan names are chosen as their names, often their most popular name. There's a similar issue with the Minus One Godzilla - it has no official name, so MaiGoji's been chosen as a temporary plaeholder.

Keeri'ijra (talkcontribs)

I'm fairly certain there won't be any new design pages publsihed since they're being deleted.

Les (talkcontribs)
Shenanigans (talkcontribs)

Correct; the plan is for the design pages to be phased out and merged with the incarnation pages.

Keeri'ijra (talkcontribs)

Still VERY MUCH helps to have all the information there, my own sandboxes merging the pages and galleries for Monsterverse Godzilla were made a lot easier because we had the information layed out and organized already.

MechaniKongZilla (talkcontribs)

I'm waiting for the Japanese fans to give it a name

Johnny (talkcontribs)

Hmm. Maybe the pic of mothra might better fit in the gallery

Johnny (talkcontribs)

Wait nvm it’s a duplicate file

New mothra pic?

Johnny (talkcontribs)

Hey @Les is it ok if I put a picture of Mothra from the new movie on her page (it’s not a camrip)

Les (talkcontribs)

What image were you thinking?

Johnny (talkcontribs)

The one when she’s reborn

The credits (I'm aware of the unfortunate errors the translator made) for Kaiju No. 8 list Keiji Ota, Hiroshi Ueda, and Tomoyuki Ogata as part of the series' production. I'm not 100% if this is the same Hiroshi Ueda who worked on The Three Treasures and The Killing Bottle or not, but Tomoyuki Ogata seems to have co-produced Shin Ultraman. Would this be sufficient to approve the series?

Les (talkcontribs)

Yeah, the credits don't specify what companies are involved, but I think it's safe to say Toho is among them. By the way, "Hiroshi Ueda" is actually Koji Ueda, the president of TOHO Global (Toho International's parent company). The other executive producers besides Ota and Ueda belong to Shueisha, Production I.G, and khara (the last one explains why there's overlap with Shin Ultraman, since khara is Hideaki Anno's company).

The main difficulty in approving the show is that the Scope rules would need to be rewritten to accommodate it, preferably in a way that doesn't qualify a bunch of other things. But I'm not sure yet what that would look like. I plan on us hashing it out soon.

Alaska sandbox

JohnGojira (talkcontribs)

Hey Les!

I have been working on a sandbox for Alaska, and I feel like it might be ready for promotion. I sent it to ABB, but I have not received a response. Would the sandbox I have made thus far get the thumbs up?

JohnGojira (talkcontribs)

Never mind, got a response. Thank you!

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Question: is it supposed to be "Skeleturtle" (as a name) or "the Skeleturtle" (as a term)? The latter makes more sense.

Les (talkcontribs)

I’ve never heard anyone say “the Skeleturtle.” It’s a fanmade pet name.

Titanus Kaiju Fan (talkcontribs)

Hello Les, I asked ABB to add a couple of stuff to the news template, but they haven’t responded. Could you please fulfill my request instead? Thanks.

Titanus Kaiju Fan (talkcontribs)

Some guy on Twitter made a comic showing an interaction between Godzilla and Mothra in G:KOTM right before Mothra gets herself killed by King Ghidorah, and Michael Dougherty has considered it canon. Is this worth noting?

Ultraman rides a dragon cuz yes (talkcontribs)

Godzilla canonically said "Shit"

Titanus Kaiju Fan (talkcontribs)

I imagine that Godzilla and Mothra's overall interaction was the same as in the comic if what Dougherty said is to be believed, but not the exact words they used. Like, what Mothra said meant "hey Godzilla, I'm gonna sacrifice myself for you", but she didn't use those exact words.

Harryhenry (talkcontribs)

Dougherty's comment sounds more in jest than a real declaration of something being canon, but that's just how I see it.
