The suffix -zilla has seen wide usage in popular culture, most recently in a slew of Internet website and product titles. It is unknown exactly how it first came into being, but its first usage was in the American version of the Japanese film Gojira. Many shows, games, and movies have featured characters with names ending in -zilla, usually to emphasize their size or prowess (after that of Godzilla).

Television

  • In Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Bonzilla is a parody of Godzilla. Though only about 1 foot tall, Bonzilla breathes real fire. Brainzilla is a nickname for Jimmy.
  • In Total Drama's third season, Izzy becomes highly intelligent for a time and takes on the persona "Brainzilla."
  • In The Simpsons, Bart made a blimp called Buttzilla that looks like Seymour, but with a big butt.
  • In The Fairly Odd Parents, Dogzilla appears when Catman comes into the Chin's webisode and takes over the role of superhero. Although he more closely resembles Mechagodzilla, he uses Godzilla's roar. Timmy wished up a gigantic robotic dog, equipped with fleas, a hose, and an assortment of other things that cats hate.
  • In one of the Wishology Trilogy episodes of The Fairly Odd Parents, Cosmo uses magic to make himself a few stories tall and says "Say hello to Coszilla!"
  • In the episode "Fartzilla" of Grossology, a robotic version of Hermes was used to break into the school cafeteria in order for Ty and Abby to investigate.
  • In another Simpsons episode, Bart made a drawing of "Fartzilla", a farting Godzilla.
  • In an episode of Viva Piñata, Fergy becomes a mecha called Fergyzilla and destroys most of the island before returning to normal size.
  • Gorgonzilla is a Godzilla-like action figure in Dexter's Laboratory.
  • Gorizilla is a giant gorilla-like Akumatized villain that debuts in an episode of the same name in the series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, and reappears occasionally in the series.
  • In one episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, King Koopa grows to massive proportions and attacks a city as Koopzilla.
  • In Teen Titans, Wrexzilla was a Mechagodzilla-like monster that was instantly killed by a larger Mothra-like monster named Silkie.
  • In Smart Guy, T.J. coins the phrase "flyzilla", figuring "these stupid phrases have to start somewhere."
  • In Reba, Barbara-Jean says she was called "Blondzilla" growing up, because of her height and hair color.
  • In Loud House, Vanzilla is the nickname for the Loud family van.
  • Also in Loud House, the Loud Family's RV is nicknamed "Camperzilla".
  • A Spidey and His Amazing Friends episode is titled "Gob-Zilla".
  • In the Heather Locklear episode of Muppets Tonight, Kermit the Frog plays the role of "Frogzilla" in Andy and Randy Pig's nonsensical Hardy Pig Boys sketch.
  • The "Outer Space" episode of The Jim Henson Hour features a fake movie trailer sketch for a movie called "My Dinner with Codzilla".
  • In Tickety Toc, they read a book titled "Cogzilla".
  • In DuckTales (1987), when underwater, they encounter a giant frog named Glubzilla.
  • In Bunny Maloney, Bunny nicknames Charlotte Madzilla.
  • In Animaniacs, a monster named Gollyzilla terrorizes Tokyo.
  • In My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, Hitch had a dream about Kenneth the bird as Birdzilla.
  • In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, when a member of a species of chinchilla-like creatures turned massive, Discord called it a Winter-zilla.
  • In Ninjago, there was an ancient sea serpent named Wojira.
  • In the episode of Rocko's Modern Life titled "A Sucker for the Suck-O-Matic," when Rocko was using the Suck-O-Matic he accidentally sucked up a miniature city, whose citizens dubbed the machine Suck-O-Zilla.
  • In The Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror XXVI" segment "Homerzilla", Homerzilla is the main antagonist.
  • In The Amazing World of Gumball episode "The Shell", Gumball gives Patrick Fitzgerald the nickname of "Bobzilla".
  • In the episode "The Snowman Cometh" in the 2015 series Danger Mouse, Danger Mouse calls the Snowman a "Snowzilla."
  • In Hazbin Hotel, though not spoken in the series, the overlord Zeezi is also called Missi Zilla.
  • In an episode of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, "The Day the Ed Stood Still," Ed dresses up as a monster named "Edzilla", then goes on a rampage and terrorizes the other kids in the cul-de-sac.
  • In the episode "Orange and Black" in The Garfield Show, a saber-toothed cat called Catzilla escapes from the zoo and goes on the loose in Garfield's hometown.

Films

  • In Coraline, while Wyborn is looking for banana slugs in the fog, he finds a particularly large one and remarks, "Dang! Check out Slugzilla!"
  • In Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, when Momma Dino pushes Rudy into a chasm, Sid calls her Momzilla.
  • In Mouse Hunt, the crazy cat Catzilla tried to hunt and kill a mouse that was destroying the house, but the mouse ultimately slaughtered it through a hidden elevator after breaking the strings. Catzilla also mimicked Godzilla's roar.
  • In Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, a shark swarm attacking Tokyo in the shape of a giant shark is named Sharkzilla.

Books and comics

  • The children's book Dogzilla and its titular monster, which both parody Godzilla.
  • In The Buckets, Dogzilla is the family dog.
  • Fredzilla is the kaiju superhero alter ego of Fred in the Marvel Comics series Big Hero 6 and its animated Disney adaptations.
  • Hog-zilla is a Tyrannoswinus rex kaiju in the Marvel Spider-Ham comics. There is also a robot duplicate of him called Mechano-Hog-zilla.[1]

  • Go!Zilla, a download manager program.
  • Mozilla, a group of Internet-related programs created by the Mozilla Foundation, also the name of the group's widely-known web browser.
  • ChatZilla, an Internet relay chat program.

  • Shopzilla, a comparison-shopping search engine, formerly BizRate.com
  • Quizilla, an online personality quiz website, which contains its own "Zillapedia".

  • STOPzilla, an adware/spyware protection program personal uses.
  • Feedzilla, real-time news and online content solutions for webmasters and bloggers.

  • Clonezilla, a disk cloning/partitioning tool similar to Symantec Ghost.
  • Gzilla, a free web browser.
  • Creazilla, a free graphic website.
  • Wikizilla, a Godzilla-focused wiki.

Miscellaneous

  • At Nickelodeon HQ, kids will win a random prize when they drop a coin in a machine with a red Godzilla-like kaiju (called Dropzilla) that will mimic Godzilla's roar.
  • Hogzilla, a famous wild boar (Sus scrofa)/domestic pig (Sus domesticus) hybrid that was shot and killed in Alapaha, Georgia on June 17, 2004. According to popular legend it was 12 feet long, weighed 1,000 pounds, and had 9-inch tusks.
  • Burgerzilla is a term first used in Papa's Wingeria as a minigame. It also is the name of an enemy that appears in Papa Louie 2: When Burgers Attack!
  • Bookzilla is a Roblox item that went on sale on October 22, 2009. Two retextures of the item exist: Mathzilla (May 10, 2010) and Bookzilla: University Edition (August 27, 2014).
  • Rodzilla was a Hot Wheels toy manufactured in numerous colors from 1988 to 2015.
  • In 2023, Funko released a vinyl Pop! of Homerzilla from The Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror XXVI", alongside King Homer from the episode "Treehouse of Horror III".
  • Ghostzilla is a massive ghost first seen in Luigi's Mansion 3 that is able to spit fireballs.
  • Pretzilla is the name of a company that sells pretzels and other baked goods.
  • Codzilla is the name of a speed boat attraction in Boston.
  • Baconzilla! is the name of a burger sold by the fast food chain Checkers & Rally’s.
  • Snowzilla is a giant snowman erected in the front lawn of Billy Powers in Anchorage, Alaska, before Christmas since 2005.
  • Chompzilla is a plant hero in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and the leader of the Mega-Grow and Solar classes.
  • ConeZILLA is the name of a board game by FoxMind Games, where players race to create a ten-scoop ice cream tower.
