Toho movies that are impossible to find.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

I can't find any Showa movies except for King Kong vs. Godzilla and the occasional Mothra.

The first 2 Heisei Godzillas are also an impossibility.

The rest are here in abundance though.

Which ones can you not find?

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

What's your criteria for "impossible?" Because even if you don't want to or can't buy the available home video releases, all or most of these movies can very easily be found with "[movie title] streaming" on the first page of a Google search.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

The criteria is that it's near-unavailable at stores without going online and spending all your money on it, meaning I have to find it at a brick-and-mortar store for it to be excluded from "impossible."

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

I understand. Technically speaking, however, none of these movies are impossible to find. As evidenced by the replies here, you have plenty of options, even if some of them are impractical for you.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Old Japanese monster movies are going to be tough finds in the ever-diminishing number of physical stores that sell movies. Best to start exploring other options.

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

You can find a lot on amazon.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

Yeah, usually for WAY more than my usual budget.

Granted, I've never gone past the first page on most of my searches (for some reason).

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

You can buy the online copies. They're around 10 bucks tops.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)

Every Showa movie is on archive.org .

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

Ah, the ol' Internet Archive.

It takes forever to buffer though.

Les (talkcontribs)

If you have the hard drive space, the best way to go is to just download the files. If you plan to watch a movie, let it download the night before and you can delete it after. Playing it locally cuts out buffering as an issue entirely.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I download movies mostly, my Internet speed is so low.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

I do have the international version of Destroy All Monsters and Monster Zero waiting on my hard drive for any use.

KunshuGoji (talkcontribs)

If you have to get them from physical stores, I'd check the used section at FYE, assuming there's one near you. I got most of my DVDs in my early days as a fan from there.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

What a coincidence, there's an FYE in the mall that's within walking distance to where I'm at!

(I go there all the time.)

I'll have to check at some point today.

KunshuGoji (talkcontribs)

Yeah man, they're good for getting the Millennium era, and the Kracken releasing re-releases of some of the Showa films and The Return of Godzilla pop-up pretty frequently around me. it's pretty random what they'll have since its what people sell to them, so it's worth checking multiple different stores to see what they have if you get the chance.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

My FYE usually never has any pre-1991 Godzillas.

スペースゴジラ (talkcontribs)

I checked a nearby 2nd and Charles, and by a stroke of luck, I found a copy of Mothra vs. Godzilla.

KunshuGoji (talkcontribs)

I'm happy for you man, that's what i did for a while, hop around FYEs and hope for something good. I still remember when I first found Godzilla: Final Wars in the back of one.

GojiKaijuFan06 (talkcontribs)

I saw on the Destroy All Monsters page that you make comics. Not to be rude or anything, but is there a way to commission a comic or something?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Films that have never been released online or outside of Japan are a pain.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

I own an out-of-print DVD for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II the odd part is that it sound's almost like a completely different dub.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

Would you please mind sharing some more detailed information about the DVD? Distributor, UPC number or ISBN, or anything of that nature? Thanks.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Baxter Entertainment (I have never herd of them before), 2005 Region 4. I got the DVD at a garage sale in June 2020.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

Thanks. Is there a bar code on the back? If so, can you share the UPC number please?

And, if it's not much trouble, maybe a picture of the cover please? Thanks a lot.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

The picture is the Japanese art for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II and Baxter Entertainment's logo is in the right hand corner of the front cover.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

I take it then there's no UPC number? I appreciate your taking the time to answer, but a description of the cover doesn't help me find the DVD, which is what I'm trying to do.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Fine, the bottom of the back was ripped when i bought it.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

"Fine"?

Dude, all I'm trying to do here is make sure this thing really does exist. I thought my questions were pretty reasonable -- were they not? And hopefully you can understand why the information and descriptions you've offered so far wouldn't be very useful in trying to find the DVD online. A bar code is the best identifier of any product. In the absence of that, any sort of catalog number or other such information on the cover is a better starting point than a mere description of the cover.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

You have the patience of a saint. Kaiju No. 14, either prove you that have the first English dub of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II in your possession or write us a 500-word apology for lying.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

UPC 522945SDO.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

UPCs are 12 digits long and don't have letters in them...

No hits for Baxter Entertainment either, at least as a home video company. If you can post a picture of your Mothra DVD, you can post a picture of this.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

But that is whats on it.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

I have the DVD that is the UPC (odd) and its out-of-print.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)
Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

And I am still awaiting proof from you that it was ever in print, i.e. something that actually exists. Understand that The H-Man and I would like to hear this dub very badly. If you don't have it, don't waste our time.

Commission a comic.
