Page created

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

hello there les i think Shochiku should become its own page and the category should be used not for links but films produced by them since we have Shintoho, Nikkatsu Corporation and Kadokawa pages.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Yeah, that's fine. I honestly thought it did have its own page.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

i gave the page more freedom.

Les (talkcontribs)

Whatever that means.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

moved it to a real page.

Pedantic "All Monsters Attack" screenshot query

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

I've been screencapping the HD transfer of the Champion Festival Son of Godzilla to replace low quality images on the site. I'm currently working on the screenshots in the MusukoGoji gallery.

Right now, there are a bunch of All Monsters Attack screenshots in the SoG gallery, and vice versa. Even though the shots are the same, technically speaking, a screenshot from AMA is not a screenshot from SoG.

If it were solely up to me, I'd upload screens from both movies (even if it meant a screenshot of the same frame from two different movies), but I don't want to put up a bunch of files that might be deemed unnecessary. I'm prepared to overwrite some of the AMA images (like linked below) with high quality shots from SoG but I just thought I'd run it by the staff first. Thanks.

File:All Monsters Attack - MusukoGoji.png

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I think it's fine to just use the SoG shots twice - and pare down the number of stock shots in the AMA gallery overall. There really only needs to be one per recycled monster.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

Two weeks later and SoG is done, oof. I'm gonna go ahead and remove all but a handful of the SoG shots from the AMA gallery, but that will still leave roughly 50-60 screenshots of Ebirah and DAM stock footage. I'd love to update the Ebirah shots using the Kraken disc (for the Ebirah gallery, not AMA's) but I don't know when I'll have the time to go frame hunting to match the 30 separate images of the Giant Condor that are already here... That's a project for god knows when.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Yeah, no rush, these are big projects.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

Works for me, thanks.

Tokyo: The Last War

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

can i make Tokyo: The Last War page?

Les (talkcontribs)

I'm begging you to stop creating pages you refuse to finish

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

ok.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Les but is Tokyo: The Last War allowed?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Boy, you didn't wait, huh?

These movies sound interesting, but I'm not seeing much of a link to what we cover.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

because none of the cast or staff have pages.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Perhaps there's a reason for that?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

"dark fantasy" theme.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

maybe same as "Queen Kong"

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

What on earth are you talking about?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Queen Kong has no links to the page and yet is allowed on the site.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

It's a parody of one of Wikizilla's three central monsters.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

its toku and has the yokai Yasunori Kato.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

We are not committing to covering every Japanese movie with practical effects or a yokai.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

i think i know that.

Godzilla Height in GvK

6
AlexSciChannel (talkcontribs)

While the height was likely referring to the figure isn't the express purpose of the tweet above it to state that the models were to scale? Tamashii Nations does have access tot he 3D CGI models after all.

Also to add on to this, Adam Wingard recently confirmed in an interview with Collider that despite any personal wishes for Godzilla he decided against changing the design from kotm thus adding on more evidence that he didn't change height.

Les (talkcontribs)

I don't doubt that he's the same size in this movie, but I'd like confirmation before adding it to the page. The size of figures is hardly conclusive. It's not even about the design necessarily, considering DougheGoji has a stubbier tale than GareGoji but his length is canonically longer. They can arbitrarily change whatever they want about the numbers, so I'd feel better with an actual stat sheet.

VaderRaptor (talkcontribs)

Agreed.

AlexSciChannel (talkcontribs)

That's understandable. I'll wait for something more concrete then. However the tail being longer despite being stubbier is reasonable as DougheGoji proportionally is scaled up from GareGoji so it isn't a surprise the tail is longer despite it's stubbiness. What ypu should be looking at is the proportion of the length with other variables like height.

In GareGoji the height is 355 ft and the tail length is 550.33 ft. Proportionally that's a ratio of 64.5% of the tail length is the height. Compare that with DougheGoji the height is when in proportion of the tail length (582 ft) is 67.5%. That means the tail is actually shorter in proportion to DougheGoji's vertical measurement when compared to GareGoji which has a longer tail proportion which makes sense since DougheGoji's tail is stubbier.

What would be odd is if the height for Doughegoji hasn't changed from Gare and the tail length was longer 582 ft. Then the proportions would be fucked. But that's not the case.

I know I just went on a tangent on what seems irrelivant I just saw your comment about the tail and it went off.

KaijuMan (talkcontribs)

Confirmation- *sigh* I'll message Wingard

AlexSciChannel (talkcontribs)

don't bother I am sure the info will be released at some point in the future

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

Happy New year.

Would you mind help me?

To get the a scan of this book, Encyclopedia of Godzilla (SpaceGodzilla Edition), * SpaceGodzilla Theory (p. 65)

Thanks in advance

Les (talkcontribs)

I don't have it. If Titano doesn't respond to you, then there's nothing I can do.

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

ok thanks

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

I was wondering why Mecha-Ghidorah was removed from the Godzilla monster list?

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

Bump

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

Bump

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)
Shinomura (talkcontribs)

Nicolas Driscol the person who wrote the article told me this:

The article was approved by Toho in the magazine and for the release in the DVD set. So yeah, in that way at least, he is “official”

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I can't say I'm much invested one way or the other.

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

So what do you think can I add Mecha-Ghidorah again to the list?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I don't mind, but I'm not clear on what the title of the article actually is.

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

Oh I'm not gonna make Mecha-Ghidorah article...

I was going to add him to the Godzilla monster list page.

But if you wanna make the article go ahead.

Les (talkcontribs)

American Kaiju Topic

10
Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Les am i aloud to make the topic of giant monster films from The United States or is it to off topic to begin with?

Les (talkcontribs)

I assume you're asking if you're allowed to make sandboxes for American movies. They're on a case-by-case basis, like anything else. If you don't want something to get deleted, then ask about the movie first before you make a sandbox for it. The admins discuss what movies fit on the site and don't.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)

@Mr. Eiga: As I know, films, such as The Lost World, Them!, Tarantula!, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Jurassic Park, The Meg and many other aren't allowed here. But films, like Pacific Rim, Rampage, The Giant Claw, Mega Shark, Monsters (2010) and Monster Island are allowed, because they are related to the many films on Wikizilla. That's sad for me too, that we cannot create articles about these films, but we must follow the rules.

Les (talkcontribs)

All of the films we have on the site have been deliberated over and we would've came to a consensus to include them. Mega Shark, as personally worthless as I think those movies are, managed to squeak by because of its clear inspirations from kaiju movies (it has a Mecha Shark in one movie, not to mention a ripoff of a Titan from Attack on Titan) and the fact that it was produced by The Asylum, who have made mockbusters of both Pacific Rim and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

There's somewhat of a case for The Lost World due to it being a direct precursor to King Kong, but I don't like the precedent it sets for movies exclusively about dinosaurs who aren't monstrous in any way. The Last Dinosaur is the closest comparison, and that one's a no-brainer because of its use of suitmation and distribution by Toho.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)

@Les: But The Lost World isn't just a precursor of King Kong; it is also the first film with giant monster destroying buildings and attacking city. I agree about other films but not this one.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

I think it would be helpful for everyone that edits the site if the intended scope/focus of this Wiki was clarified somewhere (forgive me if it is, but I haven't seen that anywhere). Despite the name, it's obviously not confined to just Godzilla movies, but it doesn't seem to be confined to just (giant) monster movies either. It seems to me that some movies we currently have pages for or which have been recently sandboxed would be better suited to some of the other fan Wikis, namely Tokupedia.

Les (talkcontribs)

Ultimately everything stems from Godzilla, Gamera and Kong, but it isn't confined just to that.

Movies which employ special effects, are produced by companies related to kaiju films or that were worked on by people who also worked on kaiju films, and feature monsters or other strange creatures, are usually on the table. Things like Buddha (1961) and The Invisible Swordsman are examples of this, being produced by Daiei who are obviously known for the Gamera series plus the Daimajin and Yokai Monsters movies, feature strange creatures, and employ tokusatsu techniques. It's impossible to make clear-cut rules, because there will always be edge cases.

The website's scope has admittedly become rather large, but at the end of the day it's down to what we as the administrators feel is right for the website and can be adequately covered by us.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)

Les, please, can you allow me create article about The Lost World? I think I argued about the inclusion of it.

Allosaurus (talkcontribs)
Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

The Them! sandbox is three years old and we forgot to decide what we were going to do with it. Personally, I'm not in favor of it - though I would vote for The Lost World because of how much it influenced the original King Kong.

In regards to Asylum and Asylum-tier films, I don't think any of them really belong here besides the mockbusters of films we already cover (Monster, the Atlantic Rim pair, and Monster Island) and the Mega Shark series.

would you like me to make a page

1
Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

would you like me to make a page? if soo what kind i will do as you ask for this topic.

Thanks for your help

KunshuGoji (talkcontribs)

Hi! just wanted to say thanks for your contributions to my Texas sandbox, I'm trying to start being more helpful around Wikizilla.

Les (talkcontribs)

Of course. Your contributions are appreciated!

About the list of Godzilla monsters

8
Shinomura (talkcontribs)

I found a new character made by Dark Horse that should probably be in the list.... Clodzilla.

No, Is not a joke... apparently he appeared on a comic along Godzilla, King Ghidorah and others.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I went ahead and bought the issue... scans to come! Kind of sad that Dark Horse had to lean on parody law to get King Ghidorah in a comic during the years they had the Godzilla license.

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

True fact...

There is also a Bear-like kaiju, a Gamera-like kaiju and of course Bodzilla.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Ah, I was hoping for Lawyer-Friendly Gamera!

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

I mean it looks like Gamera, but maybe due copyright it has another name.

Btw, can I add Clodzilla and the others to the list of Godzilla monsters?

Or is it wiser to wait for you to have the comic?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Clodzilla is fine, but I'd like to verify the others and see if they were given any sort of names.

Shinomura (talkcontribs)

ok.

Would this mean we have to update the Godzilla comics section and also make a page for the comic?

Les (talkcontribs)

We probably will

What do you mean by “Unnecessary Content”?

5
SuperZillaRealms (talkcontribs)

I just uploaded a page about the Singular Point Gabara, but only after a few minutes, it was taken down due to “unnecessary content“

Can you elaborate? What do you mean by unnecessary content? Is it because of how small the page was? If so, why did the S.P. Rodan get one?

Les (talkcontribs)

Only the most prominent of the kaiju on this site are given incarnation pages. This includes things like Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla who have so many appearances that individual pages for each becomes viable. With a monster like Gabara, there's no reason his appearances can't all be covered under one page. Same way we don't have separate pages for the incarnations of someone like Ebirah or Manda - there is simply no point.

Lamango (talkcontribs)

But my addition of Anguirus S.P. to Anguirus' page gets removed?

Les (talkcontribs)

None of the pages have Singular Point information yet except for the incarnation pages. The only reason Godzilla/Singular Point and Rodan/Singular Point exist are because those are two of the monsters who need to have incarnation pages. Otherwise there's no reason to start adding information until we actually know anything about the characters' roles.

Lamango (talkcontribs)

Aaah, ok, I get ya. I'm still under the Ultra wiki thing, we see a monster return, we add the series and put 'They are scheduled to make an appearance' under it.
