https://wiki...824008_n.jpg If you look carefully, it's not animatronic at all. You can see it requires a man with a team to operate it. No electricity. There's even a video of it still working. No electricity. But OK, it's Animatronic.

The guignol's mouth and eyes were rigged with wires and operated by Shoji Ogawa; no electronics involved that I know of.

To be fair, electronically-operated props were not exactly unheard of during that time. The suits for Gigan and Jet Jaguar both featured remote control motor mechanisms, so something to move a puppet's mouth would've been perfectly reasonable.

Damn it, I can't find it. But it's the head they used for Titanosaurus' close ups with the swiveling eyes. It's still around, and that amazes me.
