It's right there in the caption... it's an advertisement for Marine Kong, the first kaiju television series.
Marine Kong? what?
Never herd of it
why is it a poster then it should be for films.
As I said, it's probably an advertisement. From a magazine or newspaper.
Why has the show never brought up before?
Here's Maser Patrol: "Shockingly, the monster has not gotten much love in its native Japan: there’s no DVD release, and the VHS release was incomplete (it wasn’t even in stores, it was an order-by-mail release)." Looks to be only one episode on YouTube, with no subtitles.
I considered it for the Lost Media video, but Les argued that it wasn't relevant enough (and the script was getting very long). If you want to make a page on it, I'd suggest Tokupedia.
Well at least we know what's in the first two episodes, production info and VHS release.
We have pages on lost films why not TV shows?
Assault! Human!! is a lost TV show. The problem is Marine Kong has little to nothing to do with the other things we cover.
We're significantly stricter about the TV shows we cover, since they require so much work.
What about the monster? from the second episode we know its abilities.
Why would we cover a monster but not its show?
Marine Kong should at least be given a chance. We have stuff like Gogola and Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds, which are even less connected to the core of the wiki so why is this exempt?
^
Read what I wrote.
at least its not going to be a article with few info either way.
It's two episodes. Definitely not that much work.
^I think we need a vote on somewhere popular. (since everyone has a different opinion)
I got my brother to vote for me. https://www.reddit.com/r/GODZILLA/comments/n9nw6g/vote_wikizilla_gets_marine_kong_page/
C'mon guys, it's already been politely declined. There was also the suggestion to take the page to Tokupedia. The voting thing is frankly ridiculous.
"It's two episodes."
26, actually. But the length is besides the point - we don't want kaiju shows on Wikizilla that aren't from Toho or otherwise closely linked to what we cover, period. And trying to drum up support from random kaiju fans on a different site is a non-starter.
But we don't have those 26.
Also, you didn't even acknowledge that there's a lot of things covered here that aren't connected to Toho like Gogola and Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds.
You assume that the rest of the episodes will never be released. And this is the last time I'm going to repeat that we hold TV shows to different standards than movies. A wiki exists for miscellaneous tokusatsu shows - use it.
One vote soo far yes.
@Astounding Beyond Belief we have a similar show Agon: Atomic Dragon.
there was a vote on taking down the ultraman article why can't we do the same for creating one?
I am making a page on the show on Tokupedia.
Aight
Done i hate fandom's screen type when you edit however you just can't see the page that you are creating.
Didn't someone at Toho work on Marine Kong or was it Agon?
Agon was partially written by Shinichi Sekizawa, and the monster suit was made by Fuminori Ohashi (who played the Snowman in Half Human).
That's what I was thinking about. Yeah, looked in Masters of Monsters book and it says exactly that. Thanks Les.
@Lamango An actor from Toho named Shinpei Takagi played Marine Kong.
Citation needed. Plus he was not "from Toho." Only three of the 104 roles on his JMDb were Toho movies.
I think he may have been credited in the episode on youtube.
He wasn't credited in that episode and I don't recall any specific credit for whomever played Marine Kong.
You read the title.
thanks.
Are you quite sure that the Region 2/4/5 Mothra DVD has a unique audio commentary? While it's an obscure release, I can't find any record of Steve Ryfle recording a commentary with Ryuji Honda online. I would expect Sony to just reuse the one he did with Ed Godziszewski.
Updates: DVD Compare says it has the Ryfle/Godziszewski commentary. The back cover doesn't mention any commentary.
on the copy i have, it has the american poster for the film on the front cover and lobby cards on the back.
Just noticed my second link doesn't work... this one?
From that, I would surmise that it's the same as the 2009 Ryfle/Godziszewski commentary. (Here it is if you want to compare.) Not accurate to say the commentary is "by" Honda as well if they just played an excerpt.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIkWyJnAsXU&t=8s what is it?
apparently its titled The Founding of Ming Dynasty (朱洪武)
This video says its a giant monster film can it be here?
You are doing hard research for finding all these films.
I found out about the film after seeing War God.
The two serpent monsters in the film use godzilla and rodan roars, and if i can make this page i will putt a lot of hard work into it, and yes i am not going to make many film pages now.
The effects of this film where apparently done by Tsuburaya and there's pages for the kaiju on the Ultra Wiki. https://ultra.fandom.com/wiki/White_Monkey https://ultra.fandom.com/wiki/Category:The_Fairy_and_the_Devil_Kaiju Don't know if this helps.
It does. soo the monsters are covered by ultra wiki.
Some of the monsters are reused toho suits like the Water Demon.
the effects where done by Koichi Takano and we have a page for him on or site.
The Fairy and the Devil is not the same film.
Ah, it's not the same film, but uses the same special effects.
Nippon Eiji Tsuburaya Special Effects Company did the special effects for the 1971 film, his eiji's company not the man himself he died before the production even started for the film.
Yeah I knew that part, I just remember I read it on a french kaiju site like, Club de Monster or something.
Is there a version of this that isn't cropped? Can't read half the subtitles on the archive.org copy.
"Category:Aliens" is the category to be applied to the pages you've been adding the non-existent "Seijin" category to. That is not a category that needs to exist as it is redundant.
Ok.
Hey Mr. Eiga, if you ever need ideas for new fan films (cause I saw your Titanosaurus vs. Moguera film) just come to me, cause I’ve got a TON.
Thanks. i finished the scripted in December of 2020, and now working on The Stock Footage and storyboards.
Wait, SUITS? Holy crap, that sounds amazing1
thank you.
My Brother planned to use lego and clay for stop-motion for the fan film and suggested to use stock footage and puppets like the toho kaiju film of the 1970s.
@Allosaurus what do you think?
That's obviously very cool! But what do you mean under working on suits? Are you making real suits? It just is very hard. Sometimes several people make a suit.
well where going to be making character suits in about a month
It's the hard work... Can I ask, from what material will you make suits?
I came up with a film called Godzilla: Kaiju Defense Directive, if you want any more info on that (like the plot and stuff), then just ask.
ok.
I also came up with a couple others; like Return of the Orochi, Destroy all Monsters 2, Godzilla vs. Biollante 2, King Kong vs. Mechagodzilla, TTOS, and Demon of the Void.
Gamera vs. Gigan
Is that another one of yours?
no just an idea.
like I said, if anybody wants to know about the plots for any of the films I mentioned.... I’d be happy to explain.
And also HOLY CRAP this page blew up in just a couple hours!
i hope the budget doesn't grow.
Okay I’m just gonna tell you one of the plots anyways
i'll tell you mine:
Titanosaurus from the Japanese sea attacks a japanese oil rig which explodes sending the familys into total chaos, meanwhile a team of scientist find a giant robot in the heart of Mount Mihara. eight weeks later Titanosaurus attacks Tokyo harbor the Japanese Defense Force plan attack on the monser if it shows up on Japanese shores again, the scientist talk to the J.G.F about the giant alien robot known as Moguera in Mount Mihara one clams that they may be able to have control of Moguera Officer E3 Sentry approves the discovery incase of Titanosaurus's Counterattack Titanosaurus attacks Nagoya destroying Nagoya Tower, Moguera is released under Officer E3 Sentry's control battling, Titanosaurus and sending him into space.
Godzilla: Kaiju Defense Directive is pretty much a fan-made sequel to Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S, and its about a couple years after the events of Tokyo S.O.S, the AMF had made several mechs and DNA-modified kaiju, including Krystalak(Futami) and Obsidius(Tezuka). Suddenly, King Ghidorah comes down from space and wakes all of these mechs and kaiju hidden in the AMF, but it also wakes Godzilla and Mothra, who decide to work together with a Ghost-Possessed Kiryu to defeat Ghidorah, and also pick up a cyborg Kamoebas on the way. Near the end, King Ghidorah combines with the AMF’s most top secret kaiju, Death Godzilla and creates the new Desghidorah, but, thankfully, Godzilla and the others defeat him. But, in the process, they destroy the AMF’s top secret base; and a canister named “Virus” is seen cracked open and a type of gas begins floating up to space.
you see i am still working on the script and the puppets may be worse then i thought!
I'm in the planning phase of a fanfilm called Godzilla: Mayday. I won't give plot details outright but for a hint, combine the Kiryu Saga with Moby Dick and sprinkle a lil' bit of Shin just for good measure.
sounds like a fan film to me.
Why was my edit on the Godzilla (franchise) page being reverted? All I did on the page was to remove a typographical error.
The changes also show this.
sorry i misread your edit.
i found this film it may be a giant monster special effects movie and its on this talk with real korean giant monster films theres also a new film 목숨을 판 사나이 (1966), 용왕 삼태자 (1977), 악어의 공포 (1978), 몽녀한 (1984) and this kaiju film! 비천괴수 (1985) (the page is full of giant monster films) the final films in the list are Young Gu and Dinosaur Zuzu (1993) (we have that page) 영구와 우주괴물 불괴리, lit. Young Gu and the Cosmic Monster (1994), 드래곤 투카 (1996), Reptilian (1999), (2001 Yonggary), The Host and D-War, Chaw 차우 (2009년 개봉), 7광구 (2011년 개봉), 물괴 (2018년 개봉 예정)
are we allowed any of these newly found films?
The Host, Chaw, Section 7, and Monstrum are not getting pages. The Flying Monster can get a page - the SRS Cinema Blu-ray just came out, so it's got an actual translation, and Ultra Wiki has said they don't plan to cover it despite all the Ultra Series stock footage. I haven't seen (or know much about) any of the others.
I've heard D-War was a box office failure in Japan when I looked on Wikipedia
what film is The Flying Monster? please explan
The Flying Monster = 비천괴수
It was released by SRS Cinema as War of the God Monsters
It looks like a korean Gappa film.
- and why do soo many Giant Monster films have "War" and "Monsters" in the title i understand that there Giant monsters fighting in a film but its soo confusing these titles.
also known as Behemoth
Nothing to do with Gappa. It's composed almost entirely of Ultraman stock footage.
chaw, Host and sector 7 are not kaiju movies Kaiju No. 14
what happened to the host page?
I deleted it - the many discussions we've all been having recently about what does and doesn't belong on this site made me realize there was really no justification for it (aside from my adoration of it).
In your edit, you said, "if you didn't know we trust the Japanese Wikipedia over the English Wikipedia". That doesn't mean we should blindly trust uncited information, just because it's from the Japanese Wiki.
More concerning: in an effort to add credence to our Yamamoto page, you invented information that you supplied to the Japanese Wikipedia. Talk about unethical!
The Japanese entry had previously been unedited since September 14, 2020. All of a sudden, at 18:53 UTC (the same approximate time you were making edits to the Yamamoto page on Wikizilla), someone named "Eiga-Kevin2" changed the birthdate on the Japanese Wikipedia to "1936-1949" and then to "1939."
Here's the (now unbroken) link to the history of the Jpn Wikipedia entry.
Do not invent information or insert uncited information into other sources only to add a reference here.
i know what was going on i was reading books about the man and they all had a different birthday!
can we please let this pass
No, not really - please, take the above information into account, and also, give and cite sources. "I was reading books" is too vague a justification.
To add to this, if you really have books that cite his birthday, why in the world didn't you just cite those on our page? Instead, you added a reference to an uncited edit you made to the Japanese Wikipedia. That's such a convoluted and cryptic workaround to the birthday issue that I can't help but think you were just trying to pull a fast one.

Thx for helping me out with Tagruato! I think I finished and I put references.
the still needs help? yes i'll help.
Yeh, @The H-Man keps sayin that I keep plagarizing even tho I tried very hard and there is not a lot of info on this company.
take the text from the page and check for plagiarism here
it appears to be 100% Unique
Yeah, so why call it plagarisism. @The H-Man is completely wrong!
he reads familiar text and calls it plagarisism.
It is still plagiarized.
This is the first sentence of TheCarlosfieldParadox's submission:
>>"The main focus of Tagruato Corporation is deep sea drilling, specifically for Petroleum."
This is the first sentence of the section from Cloverfield Clues:
>>"The main focus of Tagruato Corporation is deep sea drilling, specifically for petroleum:"
That is WORD FOR WORD the same thing, aka textbook plagiarism. In fact, if you plug that sentence into the Grammarly link Kaiju No. 14 supplied, the result it comes back with is "100% plagiarized." If you plug in the entire history section (and remove the [1] cite note), it still comes back 71% plagiarized.
Once again, changing a few words does not constitute original writing. The history section on the Tagruato page here is still clearly derived from the Cloverfield Clues blog. That's plagiarism, guys. Plagiarism, as defined by Oxford: "the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own."
And frankly, Kaiju No. 14, you have been banned and warned multiple times for plagiarism: you have no room to tell me I'm wrong about spotting plagiarism.
So, If I put a referance on that it is not plagarisism? bc I did.
That doesn't change the fact it's plagiarized. As I said in your other topic, and as stated in the site's Plagiarism page, "citing a plagiarized source as a reference does not mean the content is not plagiarized."
The current version of your page looks better, but the syntax and grammar could stand some work. "What the Tagruato Corporation does is mainly deep sea drilling" and "The company started to get sick of just drilling for Petroleum" sound too colloquial, but those can be easily fixed. For future reference, familiarize yourself with the Syntax guide.
why?
