Wikizilla:Blocking policy

On Wikizilla, Blocking is used as a last resort towards disobedient or abusive users. It may also be used in some cases to preempt a user's bad behavior before they may cause any damage to the website. This page documents the official procedure for blocking, as well as a general discussion on the severity of a block and what may cause it.

What constitutes a block?

Blocking on Wikizilla is most commonly administered for the following reasons:

• Vandalism.
• Repeated failure to follow the Manual of Style or the general policy.
• Suspected sockpuppetry (using more than 1 account pretending to be different people).
• Abusive behavior towards other users.

Severity

In general, blocks for simple misbehaviour or misdemeanour are relatively short, starting from around 1 day, increasing with each successive act. For more severe acts of vandalism, larger blocks are implemented, and if the suspected user initiates large-scale vandalism or attempts to bring the site into disrepute, a permanent ban is usually implemented. Sockpuppets are always blocked on sight, and in many cases the I.P. address it was created from is blocked too.

In general, blocked users are disallowed from creating new accounts and editing their talk page during the blocking period, as a safeguard to protect other users on the Wiki.

If you have been blocked

If you have been blocked, assuming it is not an indefinite block, it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to create a new account until your block has passed. Such actions may be considered sockpuppetry and will usually result in the new account being instantly earmarked and blocked by an admin. The elevation of your blocking period may also be considered.

Above all else, it is advised that you use the blocking period as a time to reflect upon your actions and make an educated decision to change your behavior.
