This is a list of the various continuities in the Gamera series, along with the films and other official media that are confirmed to take place within them, listed in the order in which they chronologically take place.

Showa continuity

In the 1995 video game Gamera: The Time Adventure, which is set in "super-futuristic" times,[1] the player goes back in time to influence the events of the first seven Gamera films, then returns to the future for a final mission which utilizes scenes from Gamera: Super Monster.

Heisei Trilogy continuity

Heisei Trilogy tie-ins

It is unknown if any of these tie-ins are canonical to each other. There are some contradictions, like the diverging stories of Atlantis in Legend and The Last Hope, and Zigra's differing origins in Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe and Gamera vs. Barugon.

Notes

  1. Super Monster's place in the continuity is debated as it seems to contradict the movies preceding it, such as showing Gamera to be a turtle bought at a pet store which was set free, rather than an ancient Atlantean creature as established in his debut film.
  2. The manga's opening scene differs from that of the film. The rest of its events are set in the middle of the film, after the JSDF transports Toto to Nagoya but before Zedus attacks the city.
