"The Ruler of the Skies, Chibi Rodan" (空を統べる怪鳥 ちびラドン, Sora o Suberu Kaichō: Chibi Radon, lit. "The Monster Bird Who Rules the Skies, Chibi Rodan") is the fourth episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on April 22, 2023. An English-subtitled version followed on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel that May 1.
Plot
Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mothra, and an exhausted Chibi Mechagodzilla stand among the mountains of Monster Island. Mechagodzilla asks for a reminder of why they're hiking, and Chibi Godzilla explains that he wants to reach the top of a mountain to call out to his father, the giant monster Godzilla. The group are then approached by Chibi Rodan, who quickly reveals himself to be a raging narcissist, bragging about his wings and ability to fly. Mechagodzilla points out that Mothra is also able to fly, but Rodan retorts that his wings are more grand.[a] Mechagodzilla responds that Rodan's wings are far more plain-looking than Mothra's, causing Rodan to plummet headfirst to the ground, which Chibi Godzilla explains happens whenever he is bested by a good argument. Mothra manages to cheer him up by appealing to his ego with compliments, but he soon falls back down when Mechagodzilla remarks that the kind of people who try to find validation through bragging are always the least popular. After Mothra gets him back up again with some more compliments, Chibi Godzilla suggests that he give them a ride up the mountain on his back. He refuses, however, declaring that monsters who can't fly are as good as pigs. He then begins to argue that his narcissism isn't such a bad thing, but realizes in the middle of speaking that his constant falling can be bothersome to people, causing himself to fall yet again.
