Monster Booska (
Plot
10-year-old boy genius Daisaku Tonda attempts to transform his pet iguana Booska into a monster akin to Godzilla using his invented substance "kuropara." However, Booska instead becomes a friendly, human-sized, ramen-eating teddy bear-like monster who is strengthened by the element "Booskanium" stored in the Boo-Crown atop his head. Before long, Booska befriends several human children living in his neighborhood, whom he goes on adventures with and protects from various evildoers with the assistance of Tonda.
Booska later gains a "brother" in the form of the monster Chamegon, who Tonda creates for him using atoms from an alien organism and a squirrel.

Trivia
- Stock footage of Godzilla from the 1954 film appears in episode 1, "The Birth of Booska", when Daisaku Tonda tells his friends about what he intends to turn his pet into. Godzilla was initially planned to make an official appearance in the series.[4]
- Ryuji Honda, son of eight-time Godzilla series director Ishiro Honda, was among the production crew of Monster Booska, his first foray into television.[5]
- Several actors who played in Toho's Godzilla films have cameos in the series, including Hideyo Amamoto (who plays an estate employee in episode 10), Masaaki Tachibana (who plays a thief in episode 32), Ikio Sawamura (who plays Tsuru's grandfather in episode 36), and Shoichi Hirose (plays a military commander in episode 29, tanuki bandit in episodes 33-34, and Samekichi in episode 38).
- An episode entitled "Booska is Currently Hospitalized" was written by Shukei Nagasaka and was scheduled as the ninth entry in Monster Booska, but was canceled midway through production.[6]
- The show's titular monster became Tsuburaya Productions' most popular creation outside of the Ultraman franchise.[7] Three decades after its release, Tsuburaya reintroduced Booska to modern audiences in the series Booska! Booska!! (TV 1999-2000).[8]
