Egg Monsters Godzilla
Egg Monsters Godzilla, known as Godzilla-E.G. (ゴジラエッグ in Gojira Eggu, lit. "Godzilla Egg")Japan, is a line of Godzilla toys manufactured by Bandai and released in 2014. The gimmick of each toy is their ability to transform between an egg-shaped form, called E.G. Mode (
Figures
Wave 1
The first wave of figures was released on March 21, 2014, and included Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Gigan, and Mechagodzilla.[1][2] Mothra uniquely splits into two figures, a larva and an imago.
Wave 2
The second wave was released on July 12, 2014, and consisted of Godzilla 2014 and a MUTO, both from Legendary Pictures' Godzilla, which had yet to premiere in Japan.[2]
Waves 3 and 4
Two more figures would be released in late 2014: Burning Godzilla on October 25 and Destoroyah on December 13.[2] The Burning Godzilla is a repaint of the earlier Godzilla figure, with a translucent orange tail.
Waves 5 and 6
The Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and King Ghidorah figures were re-released on August 3, 2024. The Mothra and Burning Godzilla will also be re-released on November 2. All of their prices were increased to ¥1,430 (from ¥1,100).[2]
U.S. releases
Around the same time as the fifth wave's release in Japan, its three figures were released in the United States for $12.99 apiece. Mothra from the sixth wave will be released on November 19.[3]
Trivia
- The Godzilla 2014 and MUTO toys appeared in Bandai America's Toy Fair 2015 display, rebranded as "Hatch-n-Heroes," though they were never released.
