The Phoenix (フェニックス Fenikkusu) is a supernatural fire-themed bird originating from ancient Greek mythology. It appears in the 1995 Shogakukan bunkobon novel Gamera vs. Phoenix.
Development
The Phoenix was originally planned to battle Gamera in the unproduced 1994 film, Armageddon: Gamera vs. Phoenix.[1] Shōwa Gamera screenwriter Nisan Takahashi wrote the script, then converted it into the 1995 novel Gamera vs. Phoenix after the project was scrapped.
Design
In Gamera vs. Phoenix, the Phoenix is a giant bird which resembles a stork, having a long neck and legs and a moderately long beak. It is covered in red feathers and has a crest on its head and a tail consisting of three long feathers.
