"Dear Dad" (拝啓、お父さん, Haikei, Otōsan) is the 24th episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the eleventh episode of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on June 12, 2024. An English-subtitled version followed on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel that June 19.
Plot
Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Mothra and Chibi Anguirus come across Chibi Godzilla, who seems upset. Chibi Godzilla explains that since it is Father's Day, he wrote a letter intended for his father but he isn't sure of it and asks if he can read it to them. He begins to read his first draft in which he cannot decide which term to use to address his father and ends up simply thanking him for the various ways of saying "father". Chibi Mechagodzilla is completely unmoved by his letter and tells Chibi Godzilla off for his poor writing, only to discover that Chibi Mothra had been moved to tears in the process. Chibi Mechagodzilla advises Chibi Godzilla to write more about his feelings. In response, Chibi Godzilla tells him that he wrote another draft in which Chibi Godzilla recounts the various conversations they've had together such as "ROAR" and "ROAAAR" until Chibi Godzilla reveals that he had no clue what his father was actually saying to him. He asks them if they were moved by this draft, but as Chibi Mechagodzilla begins to say he wasn't, he is interrupted by a tearful roar from Chibi Anguirus, once again shocking Chibi Mechagodzilla.
Chibi Mechagodzilla asks what made Chibi Godzilla want to write the letter and Chibi Godzilla simply responds that he loves his dad, though expands on this to explain that he wants to hug his father but can't due to his father being much larger and stronger, prompting the decision to write a letter. Chibi Mechagodzilla begins crying at this and tells Chibi Godzilla to channel those thoughts into his writing. Chibi Godzilla then reiterates these feelings out loud, being more moving than his previous drafts. A giant fish equal in size to any of the four of them lands in between Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Godzilla, surprising Chibi Mechagodzilla while Chibi Mothra assumes that that the fish is Godzilla's way of telling his son to eat more and grow stronger. Chibi Godzilla realizes that his father heard this draft as Chibi Mechagodzilla begins to cry again and announces his happiness for him, but he stops after Chibi Godzilla abruptly comments that he'd prefer to eat meat over the fish.
