"Chibi Mechagodzilla's Hidden Features" (ちびメカゴジラの新機能, Chibi Mekagojira no Shin Kinō) is the 28th episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the 15th of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on July 10, 2024. An English-subtitled version followed on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel that July 17.
Plot
After Chibi Mechagodzilla finishes repairing Chibi Godzilla's phone and returns it to him, Chibi Minilla compliments his ability to fix technology while Chibi Mothra reminisces about the time he learned to fly and wonders if Chibi Mechagodzilla has any more hidden features. Chibi Mechagodzilla bashfully dismisses it as a fluke, though Chibi Godzilla ponders if pressing the former's dorsal fins would activate any unknown features. Chibi Godzilla suddenly presses one of Chibi Mechagodzilla's fins, causing hot water to pour out of his mouth, much to his own shock. Chibi Godzilla exclaims that Chibi Mechagodzilla must be an electric kettle and presses another plate on his back, causing Chibi Mechagodzilla's stomach to open and reveal fresh, steaming food. Chibi Godzilla calls Chibi Mechagodzilla a microwave while he, Chibi Mothra, and Chibi Minilla are left shocked and confused. Chibi Godzilla eagerly asks if Chibi Mechagodzilla has any more capabilities, which he denies before speculating that his recent ability to spin his pen is another hidden feature, though Chibi Minilla states it's more of a hobby. Chibi Mechagodzilla then begins questioning his existence, aided by Chibi Mothra remembering Chibi Mechagodzilla's memory loss, to which he says it hurts his head when he tries to remember. Chibi Godzilla speculates that Chibi Mechagodzilla must be a home appliance. Though initially outraged, Chibi Mechagodzilla drops to a knee and begins having an existential crisis as he connects the dots and realizes he shares more features with home appliances than monsters. Chibi Godzilla excitedly asks to press Chibi Mechagodzilla's third fin to confirm, which be begrudgingly accepts. Chibi Godzilla speculates that his final capability is a freezer, and before Chibi Mechagodzilla can refute, his chest opens up and fires the Absolute Zero Cannon, causing Chibi Mechagodzilla to lament that he really is a home appliance. However, Chibi Godzilla enthusiastically recognizes this as the same weapon used by Mechagodzilla, restoring Chibi Mechagodzilla's confidence that he is a robot monster after all. As Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla celebrate with the latter repeatedly firing the Absolute Zero Cannon, Chibi Mothra notices Chibi Minilla's concern and pulls her aside. Chibi Minilla ponders why Chibi Mechagodzilla would have such a dangerous weapon built into him, though Chibi Mothra convinces her not to overthink it after they both watch him and Chibi Godzilla having fun. Chibi Godzilla then presses the button on Chibi Mechagodzills's chest, causing him to cease all motion and steam while a voice announces that he has set rice to cook. As Chibi Godzilla labels him a rice cooker, Chibi Mechagodzilla despairs that he is a home appliance, with Chibi Minilla agreeing.
