― Chibi JJ attempting to arrest Chibi Godzilla (Chibi Godzilla Raids Again episode 70, "Champion of Justice, Chibi JJ")

Chibi JJ (ちびJJ,   Chibi Jē Jē) is a juvenile robot who first appears in the third season of the 2023 animated television series Chibi Godzilla Raids Again. He is a "self-proclaimed" police officer who has taken it upon himself to protect Monster Island.

Name

Chibi JJ's name simply comes from placing chibi (ちび), a Japanese word meaning "little", before "JJ", an abbreviation of Jet Jaguar.

Design

Chibi JJ is virtually identical to the original Jet Jaguar as a humanoid robot with a pointed head and distinct smile, albeit in a simpler, "chibi"-fied style. His body is primarily silver with red, yellow, and blue parts. He lacks Jet Jaguar's bird-like emblem at the waist as well as the red downward-facing arrow on his chest. Another difference between Chibi JJ and Jet Jaguar, or any other character based on Jet Jaguar, is that his face can change expressions rather than permanently smiling.

Personality

Chibi JJ takes pride in being highly confrontational and suddenly starting conflicts, all under the mindset that he is a "self-proclaimed policeman" working towards justice. This often puts him at odds with the other monsters, who have usually done nothing wrong. Despite his aggressive persona, he is shown to occasionally get along with the other monsters, being a fan of the same comic books that the others read and sometimes cooking up a multitude of meals for them.

Origins

Chibi JJ was originally a housework robot living alongside humanity and performing tasks such as cleaning prison cells, cooking meals and grocery shopping; he also knew Chibi Mechagodzilla during this time, though only to say hello to when they saw each other. Chibi JJ later escaped the human world and ended up on Monster Island; though initially fearful about being hunted down and having to return to the painful memories of the human world, he grew bored when he wasn't and chose to live his life as a police officer on the island instead.

Chibi Godzilla Raids Again

"Champion of Justice, Chibi JJ"

Following Chibi Godzilla's discarding of a broken hair dryer, Chibi JJ suddenly appeared at the scene to arrest him, under the belief that Chibi Godzilla was littering. Chibi JJ presented himself to Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Minilla as a guardian and champion of justice, much to the confusion and annoyance of the juvenile monster siblings. Chibi Godzilla objects to the arrest, claiming that the hair dryer wasn't his to begin with, to which Chibi JJ decides to place him under false arrest instead, causing Chibi Minilla to suspect him of being a fraud. The self-proclaimed policeman then happily went through his collection of handcuffs, going on about how fun he finds arresting people to be. After an aggressive apology from Chibi Godzilla, Chibi JJ decided to strike a deal with him, wanting to know who the young monster's "baddest" associates may be, once again happily expressing his seemingly never-ending enthusiasm for arresting people.

Sensing the commotion, Chibi Titano arrived, leading to Chibi JJ immediately accusing him of speeding, despite him barely moving whatsoever, and driving without a license, despite his vehicle being a bike. Chibi JJ then decided to simply arrest Chibi Titano on a whim, much to the confusion of the latter, who questioned who the robot monster even is or if he was a real police officer. Chibi JJ then explained that he created the island's police force himself, being the sole officer of the force due to his ambition to be the "Champion of Justice." Chibi Minilla and Chibi Titano called him out for being a fake officer, leading to Chibi JJ being hurt by their words but ultimately deciding to spare the three, though not without reiterating the prohibition of littering before leaving. Chibi Godzilla then picked the hair dryer back up, leading Chibi JJ right back to him, now believing that the young monster was holding a weapon.

"Weekly Shonen Gawdzilla"

As Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Rodan, and Chibi Anguirus read through the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Gawdzilla that had just washed ashore on Monster Island, Chibi JJ scolded the young monsters, claiming that the comic was a lost item that needed to be returned to the police station, and thus confiscated it, much to the dismay of Chibi Godzilla.

As Chibi Godzilla waited for the next issue a week later, Chibi JJ suddenly appeared behind him, similarly waiting eagerly for the issue to come. Although the monsters were surprised to see him back, Chibi JJ played it off as him simply looking for more items to be confiscated, though Chibi Godzilla saw through his facade. The self-proclaimed policeman then admitted to being hooked on the comic as well, going as far as to spoil last week's issue to Chibi Godzilla. After Chibi Rodan managed to acquire the latest issue a day earlier than usual, Chibi JJ happily allowed the young monsters to read the comic, only to find out that the series Samurai Bun was getting cancelled, prompting Chibi Godzilla to burn the comic to a crisp.

"Chibi JJ's Interrogation"

Chibi Rodan found himself on the receiving end of an interrogation at the hands of Chibi JJ, despite the young pteranodon being completely unaware as to why he was there in the first place. Chibi JJ claimed that Chibi Rodan had committed acts of perjury and property damage, evidenced by the latter's retrieval of Chibi Minilla's lost balloon and accidentally falling on and wrecking a bench after being struck out of the sky by Chibi Ghidorah, respectively. Chibi Rodan found the officer's evidence questionable, insisting he was not at fault for either of these supposed crimes. Chibi JJ continued to attempt to get Chibi Rodan to admit the truth, repeatedly pounding the desk in rage and shining a lamp in the young monster's eyes, believing them to be part of the routine of being a cop. Left with no other choice, the policeman offered Chibi Rodan a bowl of pork-on-rice, encouraging him to dig in. Highly impressed by the meal, Chibi Rodan asked if Chibi JJ was the one who cooked it, only for the robot monster to abruptly disregard the question and shift gears back to the interrogation, before immediately offering a tart with seasonal fruits as well. Chibi JJ then promptly left the room, attending to another interrogation he was conducting.

Chibi JJ began questioning Chibi Godzilla, believing the young monster committed an unspecified crime. Chibi Godzilla remains silent, prompting Chibi JJ to fetch him another bowl of pork-on-rice, a recurring pattern that he seemed to have picked up on. After eating the meal, Chibi Godzilla asked what would be on the menu tomorrow; Chibi JJ replied that he planned to make curry with fresh spices. The reveal of this caused Chibi Godzilla to reveal his own secret: that he was only a small part of a larger criminal group, resulting in Chibi JJ demanding that the group be brought in tomorrow for interrogation. Chibi Godzilla agreed to his demands, but only under the condition that rice bowls would be prepared for them too, though not without a quick check from Chibi JJ if any of them had food allergies.

"Supermarket Showdown"

After Chibi Biollante grabbed tuna fillets which were 50% off while she was looking for bargains, Chibi JJ suddenly appeared and proclaimed that she was under arrest, accusing her of shoplifting. Chibi Biollante disputed that she had been shoplifting but supermarket worker Chibi Gabara pointed out she hadn't paid for the tuna even despite Chibi Minilla countering that it was fine since she was still in the middle of shopping. After Chibi Godzilla made the situation worse despite Chibi Minilla's attempts to defend Chibi Biollante, Chibi Biollante confessed to the crime despite it obviously being a false accusation and Chibi Minilla still trying to help her by appealing to Chibi JJ. Chibi JJ remarked that he wasn't a monster and changed her sentence from six years to three, which Chibi Minilla still found absurd despite Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Biollante proclaiming it a bargain due to being 50% off.

"I Wanna Meet Santa"

Hearing the word "burglar" when overhearing Chibi Minilla and Chibi Godzilla telling Chibi Ghidorah and Chibi Rodan about Santa Claus, Chibi JJ barged into the room with the words "YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!", causing Chibi Ghidorah to mistake him for Santa Claus. Chibi Minilla reminded him of who Chibi JJ was as she also pointed out Santa was not a burglar. After Chibi Rodan voiced his wish to meet Santa, the group agreed to stay awake throughout the night so they could meet him. Despite this, Chibi JJ was the first to fall asleep as Chibi Ghidorah mocked him for falling asleep on the job, with the others except Chibi Minilla also soon falling asleep. As Santa arrived and gave Chibi Minilla her present before he and Chibi Godzilla remarked on their similar appearance, Chibi JJ abruptly woke up and mistook Chibi Godzilla for Santa, arresting him for trespassing despite his pleas.

"Monster Island's Year-End Party"

When a large group of chibi monsters gathered at Chibi Biollante's bar to share memories at the year-end party, Chibi JJ appeared in flashback as Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Ghidorah and Chibi Rodan talked about the Christmas party the previous week and also when Chibi Biollante remembered being arrested by Chibi JJ at the Mess Mart and explained that she was allowed to go free of charge after she said "sorry".

"Chibi JJ's Past"

Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Mothra came across Chibi JJ and Chibi Godzilla explained who he was to his friends as neither of them had met him yet, with Chibi Mechagodzilla wondering if he shouldn't say hello after Chibi Godzilla warned him that eye contact would make him a target for Chibi JJ's false accusations. Chibi JJ noticed them and fell to the floor in fear at the sight of Chibi Mechagodzilla, begging to not be captured as the three stared in shock. Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mothra started to speculate that Chibi Mechagodzilla had secretly been bullying Chibi JJ as Chibi Mechagodzilla protested this and attempted to be friendly with Chibi JJ but was stunned when Chibi JJ reacted with fear once again upon confirmation that he was talking to Chibi Mechagodzilla and hadn't mistaken him for someone else. Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mothra whispered behind them as Chibi Mechagodzilla tried to explain he hadn't done anything wrong. They asked Chibi JJ about his past and he explained that he was a robot monster who had escaped the human world and was initially fearful of being captured until he grew bored and decided to just live his life as a police officer instead. He continued that this was why he didn't want to go back to the painful memories of having to perform housework tasks such as cleaning cells or cooking meals, confirming that he had been a housework robot. He remarked that he had never guessed that Chibi Mechagodzilla would be the one to recapture him; Chibi Mechagodzilla asked if they had known each other but was disappointed when he replied that it was only to say hello to when they saw each other, making them basically strangers. Chibi Godzilla defended Chibi Mechagodzilla by pointing out he wasn't an evil robot monster and was instead a handy appliance robot, much to his annoyance. Chibi JJ commented that a housework robot and an appliance robot would make a great team, with Chibi Mothra pleased that there were no more misunderstandings despite Chibi Mechagodzilla insisting that him being an appliance was a misunderstanding.

"Chibi JJ 24 Hours"

Chibi JJ commented on the lack of crime on Monster Island, with his disappointed tone surprising Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Minilla as Chibi JJ insisted that the peace he wanted was that of him enforcing order in response to a crime committed. The three then noticed Chibi Titano nearby and Chibi JJ immediately assumed he was a criminal despite Chibi Minilla describing him as a good guy, with Chibi JJ demanding the pair tail Chibi Titano. Chibi Godzilla misunderstood this as Chibi JJ wanting to be tailed and though he initially seemed hostile to the idea, Chibi JJ agreed to this as he asked the pair to record him.

Sometime later, the three watched Chibi Titano in the street as it rained, with Chibi Minilla filming, Chibi Godzilla narrating and Chibi JJ watching Chibi Titano while hoping to arrest him. Chibi Titano approached a puppy in a cardboard box and gave it an umbrella to keep it dry in the rain. Chibi Titano then held a bat with nails, scaring the group until they realized he was building the dog a doghouse, with Chibi JJ wondering if this counted as an offence as Chibi Minilla insisted it wasn't one at all. Chibi Titano then rang his grandmother as the group initially assumed it was a scam call until he revealed to her that he just wanted to thank her for raising him when he was young. Chibi Titano then approached Chibi JJ as they made eye contact and Chibi JJ relished the chance for Chibi Titano to act in a criminal manner, deliberately trying to provoke him until Chibi Titano replied that he just wanted to say hello, leaving Chibi JJ disappointed. Chibi Titano left as Chibi JJ expressed disappointment at Chibi Titano not taking the bait but promised Chibi Minilla he had one last trick up his sleeve as she mentioned wanting to go home.

Chibi JJ approached Chibi Titano in another neighborhood ruined by graffiti praising Chibi Titano and asked if he had sprayed the graffiti, with Chibi Titano denying any involvement. Chibi JJ's questioning was interrupted by the dog from earlier sniffing the graffiti and Chibi JJ and then barking at Chibi JJ, revealing that he had written the graffiti in an attempt to frame Chibi Titano. Chibi JJ pleaded his innocence as the dog barked at him and Chibi Godzilla announced that peace had returned to the island.

"Chibi Monster Detectives Return"

As Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Minilla and Chibi Rodan investigated an apparent bloodstain in the street, Chibi JJ approached them and asked what they were doing. When they told him about the bloodstain, he immediately changed tone and suspiciously told them to either go home for lunch or play soccer in the mountains, confusing the group as to why he was being dismissive of a crime despite his typical behavior. Chibi Minilla inquired further as she asked if he was trying to hide something and he tried to insist his innocence even when he was interrupted by Chibi Godzilla discovering a hammer stained with red in the bushes. Seeing Chibi JJ floundering, Chibi Minilla realized the truth and pointed out that the bloodstain was actually paint as unlike blood it didn't seep into the ground. Combining this revelation with the hammer, she asked him if he had been making something and Chibi JJ confessed that he'd been making a bench since he didn't think there were enough in the community and kept this project secret so he could see everyone's reactions, baffling the group as to why he was telling in this story in an apparent attempt to sound like a criminal.

"Chibi Gigan vs. Chibi JJ"

Visiting Tsk-Tsk Ramen, Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla spotted Chibi JJ waiting in the queue outside and approached him, asking what he was doing. Chibi JJ immediately began defensive and claimed that the shop was suspicious and that he definitely wasn't slacking despite Chibi Mechagodzilla agreeing with him. Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Godzilla then pointed out that he couldn't slack anyway since he wasn't a real police officer, Chibi JJ brushing this off by asserting that he'd arrest the waiter if the food was bad as Chibi Mechagodzilla begged for him to keep "slacking". Entering the restaurant, the three spotted Chibi Gigan working and Chibi JJ suddenly fell to the floor after recognizing Chibi Gigan and begged not to be terminated as Chibi Gigan branded him a traitor. Chibi Gigan commented that traitors must be punished but asked what Chibi JJ wanted to eat as he was still a customer, elaborating that he would be punished after his meal. Chibi JJ then decided he could act without fear for at least some time and complained to Chibi Gigan that the counter was dirty and he should clean it up, much to Chibi Mechagodzilla's shock while Chibi Gigan apologized. Chibi JJ dismissed his apologies and demanded to speak to Chibi Gigan's manager but quickly became fearful when Chibi Gigan prepared to contact his organization's boss, Chibi JJ interpreting this as the boss of the robot monsters until Chibi Gigan called for his supervisor: Chibi Gabara. Chibi Gigan explained that a complaint had been made but Chibi Gabara merely retorted that he had to deal with this gripe himself and went on his break.

Some time later after the three customers had eaten, Chibi JJ praised the meal but commented to Chibi Gigan's annoyance that the restaurant could still be improved. Chibi JJ criticized the excessive wait times as Chibi Gigan despaired over what to do but Chibi Godzilla suggested they hire Chibi JJ as a worker as he is also good at cooking. Chibi JJ initially disagreed with this idea as he already had a job as a police officer but realized he wouldn't be terminated while working in the restaurant, Chibi Gigan confirming this. Chibi JJ immediately began his job by welcoming Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla as the latter questioned their behavior.
