Vuldorah
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Vuldorah[1] is a giant vulture monster who appeared in the 2026 IDW Publishing anthology comic Godzilla vs. America: Texas, in the segment "Deep in the Podcast of Texas".
Name
Vuldorah goes unnamed within the comic itself and is merely referred to as a bird; creator Matt Frank revealed its name on social media alongside concept art of the monster.[1] The name appears to be derived from combining "vulture" with the common suffixation "-dorah" found in many kaiju names such as King Ghidorah or Hedorah.
Design
Vuldorah resembles a giant vulture. Its skin and wings are brown while its eyes are green. Green orifices dot its neck which exude green smoke or flames when unleashing its acid attack.

Godzilla vs. America: Texas
"Deep in the Podcast of Texas"
In Austin, Texas, the winged Vuldorah descended upon the Frost Bank Tower and roared a challenge to the approaching Godzilla. Vuldorah struck first, swooping down upon the King of the Monsters, grabbing him with its talons, and pushing him into a building. Godzilla retaliated with his atomic breath, though Vuldorah shielded its body from the blast using its wings before unleashing a spray of acidic vomit against Godzilla.
Before the winged beast could take advantage of its stunned foe, a G-Force airship arrived and fired a pink liquid at Vuldorah, burning its wing and providing Godzilla with time to recover. Godzilla proceeded to grab the monster by the tail and deliver another blast of his atomic breath directly to Vuldorah's body, incinerating it.
Abilities

Acidic spray
Vuldorah can spit acidic bile at its opponents.
Flight
Vuldorah can fly with its massive feathered wings.
Durability
Vuldorah was able to shield its body from Godzilla's atomic breath using its wings, which did not appear to be damaged or burned by the attack. However, its body proved vulnerable to direct blasts of Godzilla's ray.

Trivia
- Vuldorah is reminiscent of La Carcagne from The Giant Claw (1957). Perhaps coincidentally, Vuldorah's concept art also heavily resembles Matt Frank's Godzilla Neo redesign of the Giant Condor.
- Vuldorah's acidic attack was likely inspired by the tendency of vultures to vomit when threatened. However, in real life, this is primarily used to lighten the load in their stomachs to make for quicker escapes rather than an offensive attack.
