Godzilla vs. Gigan and the Smog Monster is a picture book written by Alice Alfonsi and published by Random House on October 29, 1996. The artists are anonymous, with the book only crediting Motown Animation, a division of Motown Records.
Plot
A factory damaged by an earthquake lures Hedorah to Los Angeles. As he spreads chaos, the source of the earthquake, Gigan, emerges from underground and compounds the mayhem. Rodan arrives to battle Hedorah, as he has in the past, but is quickly overpowered by the Smog Monster's toxic attacks. Meanwhile, Gigan attacks Hollywood Boulevard with impunity, shrugging off fire from attack helicopters. Godzilla comes ashore at Santa Monica Beach and drives off Hedorah with his atomic breath, saving Rodan. Rodan returns the favor when Godzilla's fight against Gigan goes badly, driving the cyborg out of the city with a sonic boom. A fissure opens up before Godzilla and Gigan as they grapple. Godzilla takes advantage of it by hurling Gigan in, then blasting him with his atomic breath before another quake closes the fissure. Godzilla and Rodan return to their homes as the grateful citizens of LA see them off.
