Trivia
- This novel mentions that Battra awoke in order to intercept the asteroid Gorath before it could strike the Earth. This is a reference to both Godzilla vs. Mothra, where Battra's purpose was to prevent a meteor from striking and destroying the planet, and the film Gorath, which featured a runaway celestial body named Gorath on a collision course with the Earth.
- Godzilla destroys Gorath with his spiral atomic breath, just as he did in Godzilla Final Wars. It is also suggested that Gorath may contain a space monster, while in Godzilla Final Wars it served as the vessel for Monster X.
- The coalition of people who want humanity to co-exist with Mothra is named the Cosmos, which was the name given to Mothra's twin priestesses in the Heisei series.
- It is mentioned that only the combined forces of Mothra and Battra could truly defeat Godzilla, which is why Mothra could only make him retreat by herself. This is a nod to the film Godzilla vs. Mothra, where Mothra and Battra were able to defeat Godzilla by working together.
- Mothra's egg being transported aboard the USS Saratoga is a reference to Godzilla vs. Mothra, where Mothra's egg is also transported by a boat before it is attacked by Godzilla.
- This novel features a battle between King Caesar and Megalon, which may be a reference to issue #10 of the IDW comic series Godzilla: Rulers of Earth, which also featured a battle between the two monsters.
- The codename given to the military operation to pit monsters against each other is "Operation: LTF," an acronym for "Let them fight," Ishiro Serizawa's famous line from Legendary Pictures' Godzilla.
- This novel discusses the potential origins of Orga, who attacked Turkey during the events of GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse, and suggests he was either an extraterrestrial lifeform that fell dormant after arriving on Earth in prehistoric times or an approximate species to Godzilla or monster derived from Godzilla. Both proposed origins reflect Orga's origins from Godzilla 2000: Millennium, where he was the result of aliens that crash-landed on Earth and fell dormant in prehistoric times mutating after absorbing Godzilla's DNA.
- The quote "Its name is Mecha, Mecha, Mechagodzilla" (その名はメカメカメカゴジラ in this novel is taken from the lyrics to the song " Sononaha Meka Meka Mekagojira)Defeat Mechagodzilla!," a tie-in theme song for the film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
- Titanosaurus is discovered in the Ogasawara Islands, vulnerable to sonic waves, and is placed under mind control and forced to battle Godzilla, all of which allude to his role in Terror of Mechagodzilla.
- The Exif declare "It is no use collecting all of the military power of the Earth" (地球の全軍事力を集めても駄目です in reference to stopping Gorath, which is adapted from a quote by the Chikyū no zen gunji-ryoku o atsumete mo damedesu)Xilien Commander regarding the same topic in Godzilla Final Wars.
- When Godzilla attacks Tokyo, the Prime Minister and his Cabinet are evacuated along a specified escape route, just like in Shin Godzilla. However, in this case they successfully escape because they evacuate from a low building rather than the top of a skyscraper.
- Rodan II attacks Kyushu, just as the two Rodans did in the character's debut film. It is also implied that Rodan feeds on Meganulon, a reference to a scene in the same film where a newly-hatched Rodan preys on Meganulon in its cave. Additionally, the onomatopoeia for the Meganulon's roar is written as "Piyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyopiyo" (ピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨピヨ), which reflects their sound effects from the aforementioned film.
- Haruka Sakaki, whose maiden name is Yashiro, serves as a Maser Cannon operator, referencing the character Akane Yashiro from Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, who also served as a Maser operator.
- Two individual Titanosaurus appear in this novel, which may allude to Yukiko Takayama's original story for Terror of Mechagodzilla, which featured two dinosaurs named Titans in place of Titanosaurus.
- The Mechagodzilla propaganda films directed by Egerton Albury contain numerous nods to Mechagodzilla's previous film appearances. For instance, it is mentioned that the films utilized suitmation to depict a battle between Godzilla and Mechagodzilla. In addition, the films partially utilize the taglines for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla ("It flies in space and shoots missiles!") and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II ("The birth of the end of the century tyrant"), with some of the wording slightly changed.
- The character Kane Hilter develops an urban legend about the Oxygen Destroyer, claiming it was a chemical weapon invented by a scientist named Dr. Serizawa and used to kill Godzilla in 2037, with Serizawa taking his life to ensure the weapon could never be used in an upcoming conflict. According to the legend, the Godzilla that appeared from the Arctic five years later was a different member of the species. This story almost exactly follows the ending of the original 1954 Godzilla film, while also referencing the fact that a second Godzilla appeared following the first one's demise.
- A group of scientists led by Dr. Ijuin later begin studying a microorganism strain believed to be connected to the Oxygen Destroyer, only for the microbes to become a monster that turns on them. This is a reference to the plot of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. While the microorganisms are only designated J-MO7 in this novel, their characteristics and story role are undoubtedly based on Destoroyah.
- The scientist who studies Godzilla's cells is Tokumitsu Yuhara, who was the lead scientist on the Kiryu project in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.
- The name of the character who narrates the section of the novel focusing on Gigan is Michael N. Hunter, which may be a reference to the M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens, Gigan's creators in the Showa series.
- Author Renji Oki considered featuring Kiryu in the novel as a "prototype Mechagodzilla" which would battle Godzilla. Ultimately, his proposed role in the story went to Gigan.
