Cybersaur (サイバーザウル Saibāzauru) is a United Nations-built mecha that first appeared in the 1st issue of Dark Horse's Godzilla comic series.
A top-secret military project, Cybersaur was developed by the United Nations and G-Force in preparation of Godzilla's eventual return. The machine was launched from North Dakota and flew to British Columbia, Canada to prevent Godzilla from reaching Vancouver. Despite quickly losing its first bout, Cybersaur managed to prevail in the second, even appearing to kill Godzilla. However, the unexpected arrival of Bagorah ensured a short-lived victory, as the alien monster made short work of the golden goliath, its pilots barely escaping before it exploded. The U.S. abandoned the mecha in favor of creating a new machine to fight Godzilla: the All-Terraintula.
Name
Cybersaur is a simple portmanteau of the words "cyber" to reflect its status as a machine and "-saur", relating to lizards and dinosaurs.
Design
Cybersaur is a gold dinosaurian mecha that vaguely resembles Godzilla. It has exaggerated proportions and almost entirely smooth armor. Cybersaur sports a black visor which sometimes appears to glow yellow, though this may merely be the reflection of the explosions occurring in front of it. It has two small fins which point upwards on the sides of its head. Cybersaur's mouth is sharp and jagged, giving it the appearance of having teeth. Cybersaur can also open its mouth to reveal a hidden cannon. It has a long segmented neck. Cybersaur has a small chest with two vertical four-cell missile launchers attached to its sides. The missiles within are shown to have red tips but are also occasionally colored entirely gold like the rest of the mecha. These missile launchers have an extra cell that houses a red cannon, with there being another cannon located atop the missile launchers themselves. There are also two three-cell missile launchers on Cybersaur's back.
Attached to these missile launchers are giant shoulder pads. Cybersaur has relatively long arms with a port on its forearms that houses another pair of cannons. It has a large lower body with massive thighs and digitigrade legs. Thrusters can extend out from the sides of Cybersaur's thighs. It has a long segmented tail with two rows of small rectangular dorsal fins. Its tail is tipped with two rotating cannons.
Origins
Cybersaur was developed by the United Nations and G-Force as an anti-Godzilla weapon in the event of Godzilla's return. However, the machine was still being finalized and still required months of "fine-tuning" when the military ordered its launch, meaning that it was not operating at full capacity when sent into battle.

Godzilla
"Dramatization"
After a failed attempt by G-Force to lure a poisoned Godzilla out of Canada, the order was sent by Colonel Cameron to activate Cybersaur, a powerful machine created by G-Force and the U.N. in preparation of Godzilla's eventual return. Despite reservations that Cybersaur was not ready, the machine was launched from its North Dakota base as ordered and landed directly before its target.
"Property Damage"
Challenging Godzilla, the mechanical defender unloaded its arsenal at the King of the Monsters, but it wasn't enough. Just as the pilots prepared to fire the G-Buster, Cybersaur's ultimate weapon, a blow to the head from Godzilla's tail caused massive damage within the robot's cockpit, killing one of its pilots. The golden mecha was then blown off its feet by Godzilla's atomic breath, with a kick to the head as Godzilla passed by inflicting even more internal damage. Eventually, G-Force was able to repair Cybersaur and sent it to engage Godzilla once again. This time the mecha fared much better than it did before, assaulting Godzilla with its firepower before activating the G-Buster, Cybersaur's ultimate weapon. One blast from the G-Buster was all it took to send Godzilla falling to the ground, apparently dead.
"Long Live the King!"
Cybersaur remained on the scene as the military established a temporary base around the unconscious body of Godzilla. Later on, when the space monster Bagorah arrived on Earth, Cybersaur was sent to intercept him. A single blast from Cybersaur's laser cannons was enough to send the giant bat screaming into the ocean. The next night, Bagorah returned, but Cybersaur had been refitted with a Sonic Disruptor to disorient the beast. Unfortunately, it only had a temporarily effect on Bagorah, who attacked Cybersaur with a flying headbutt, sending the machine crashing onto its back. Attacked by its foe's teeth and talons, the mechanical marvel was damaged beyond repair, prompting Bagorah to move onto the body of Godzilla for a meal. However, Godzilla was not dead after all, and quickly awoke before the bat monster could take a bite.
"Godzilla vs. Bagorah"
As Godzilla and Bagorah duked it out in Vancouver, Cybersaur began to spark and flames began to engulf its body. As its pilots were being rescued, they learned that Cybersaur's internal systems were overloaded and the machine was going to explode. Just as the pilots made it out through an escape hatch, Cybersaur erupted into a ball of fire, never to see combat again. However, a new robot was already in the early stages of development at the moment, one that would also have the purpose of challenging the might of the King of the Monsters.
"Target: Godzilla! Part One"
G-Force member Kino was unimpressed by the military's unveiling of the All-Terraintula, voicing his belief that Cybersaur was the better weapon. He further chastised the robot spider to Colonel Cameron, claiming that Cybersaur's failure made it apparent that machines could do nothing to Godzilla.
"Target: Godzilla! Part Two"
As Kino recapped chaotic recent events, he mentioned Cybersaur's battle with Godzilla and eventual destruction after its fight with Bagorah.
A Decade of Dark Horse #4
Cybersaur was seen on a monitor in G-Force's Arctic base while Dr. Kazushi Kagaku contacted Dr. Yamazaki.
Abilities
Flight
By extending thrusters from the sides of its thighs, Cybersaur can achieve flight. It used this to confront Godzilla in Canada.

Missile launchers
Cybersaur possesses two four-cell missile launchers on its shoulders. It also has two three-cell missile launchers on its back, though it is never shown using them in the comic.
Laser cannons
Cybersaur has laser cannons mounted in its wrists and mouth, as well as two on the tops of its missile launchers. Its laser cannons contained enough power to injure the weakened Godzilla and pose a considerable threat to Bagorah.
Electric field
Cybersaur can constantly emit an electric field which absorbs enemy attacks.

Sonic Disruptor

Cybersaur was later equipped with a Sonic Disruptor to deal with Bagorah.
G-Buster
Cybersaur has an enormous gun called the G-Buster that extends from its torso. This weapon was so powerful that it sent Godzilla into a coma with one shot, though Godzilla was already weakened by the poison that Yoshiwara had shot into him.
Plasma bombs
It was mentioned by a member of the research team G-Force that Cybersaur also has plasma bombs in its destructive arsenal.
Weaknesses
Cybersaur sustained damage from Godzilla, and even more from Bagorah. The latter fight rendered it inoperable, and it eventually combusted.

Trivia
- Cybersaur is very similar to, and in all likelihood based on, the Heisei version of Mechagodzilla from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. Both are gigantic mechas superficially resembling Godzilla himself, which are built by the combination of G-Force and the United Nations in order to defend mankind from Godzilla. Cybersaur's shoulder-mounted laser cannons are also reminiscent of the Garuda's High Power Maser Beam Cannons, which are positioned on Mechagodzilla's shoulders while in its Super Mechagodzilla form.
- Colonel Cameron, who ordered Cybersaur's launch, was later revealed to be a Black Hole Planet 3 Alien in disguise. However, outside of launching the machine, the aliens did not appear to have any further association with the mecha, unlike the All-Terraintula, who was later piloted by the aliens for use in their attempted conquest of Earth.
