Beta-Beast
The Beta-Beast is an alien monster who first appeared in the twelfth issue of the 1977-1979 Marvel comic series Godzilla.
A war-monster from an unknown planet that had been captured and controlled by aliens known as the Betans, the Beta-Beast was sent to battle Godzilla after the latter was transported to the Betans' base on Earth's Moon to determine which monster stood a better chance at preventing an invasion of Earth by another alien race known as the Megans.
Origins
The Beta-Beast was one of many war-monsters employed by an alien race known as the Betans, having been abducted from an unknown alien world for use in their intergalactic war against their sworn enemies, the Megans. The Beta-Beast was described as the Betans' most powerful war-monster, though the aliens knew that it was not strong enough to stop the Megans' Mega-Monsters. Upon discovering Godzilla, the Betans orchestrated a match between the two in order to determine which monster would be better positioned to oppose the Megans.

Godzilla
"The Mega-Monsters from Beyond! Part One: The Beta-Beast!"
Having witnessed the awesome might of Godzilla following his triumph over Yetrigar, the Betan aliens teleported the Earth monster to their secret base on Earth's Moon as a means of testing whether or not Godzilla was truly more powerful than the Beta-Beast, their own strongest war-monster. The Beta-Beast struck first, charging into Godzilla before attempting to overwhelm him by employing all of the weapons in its arsenal against him. The space-spawned monstrosity harassed the King of the Monsters with its poison-loaded darts and fire breath, but the enraged Godzilla quickly fought back with his own scorching atomic fire, eventually overpowering the Beta-Beast in a Beam-Fight. Once the battle was over, the Betans explained their history to Godzilla and revealed that their sworn enemies, the Megans, were preparing to plunder Earth for its resources using the Mega-Monsters and sought to determine which monster - Godzilla or the Beta-Beast - stood the best chance of thwarting their invasion, which, if successful, would also spell doom for their own planet, Beta. The Betans were now able to conclude that Godzilla was the strongest monster that they had ever known and sent him back to Earth to protect both his home and, by extension, Beta.
Abilities
Flame jet
The Beta-Beast can spit fire from the orifice atop its head. This fire briefly appeared to be as strong as Godzilla's, with the two engaging in a Beam-Fight, though Godzilla's radioactive breath proved stronger.
Poison darts
The Beta-Beast can launch powerful darts from its six tentacles that were capable of piercing Godzilla's skin with ease. Godzilla is described as being "wracked with venomous fire" upon being struck by the darts.
Durability
The Beta-Beast was unfazed by the vacuum of space and did not require any manner of protection, while Godzilla required an oxygen-sheath to survive on the Moon.
