— Team description in Godzilla |
G-Force is a team that first appeared in the 1992 Dark Horse comic Godzilla Color Special before going on to star in the 1995-1996 series Godzilla. The team was formed to study Godzilla.
History

- Godzilla #0-15 (1995-1996)
- A Decade of Dark Horse #4 (1996)
Godzilla Color Special
G-Force members Dr. Kazushi Kagaku, Dr. Reiko Kagaku, Také Fukuda, and Kino traveled to the remote island of Kiryoku-shima during an intense storm to warn its inhabitants of Godzilla's impending arrival. There, they met with former team member Kogenta and Priestess Ookii'Mune, with the latter believing that the island's god, Gekido-jin, would protect them from Godzilla's wrath. G-Force helped the villagers escape Godzilla's path before attempting to obtain a skin sample from Godzilla with a biopsy dart. However, their plan soon went awry, and Kogenta sacrificed himself to awaken Gekido-jin. The statue awakened and battled Godzilla, only to be overwhelmed by Godzilla's strength. G-Force tied the cable of their dart, which was still imbedded in Godzilla's foot, to Ookii'Mune's staff, creating a lightning rod that successfully drew lighting and electrocuted Godzilla, giving Gekido-jin the upper hand. The two battling titans eventually took their battle to sea while G-Force and Ookii'Mune paid their respects to Kogenta.
Godzilla
"Blast from the Past"
G-Force anchored their research boat just outside of Godzilla's motionless body as the monster lied in a comatose restive state. Professor Noriko Yoshiwara and pilot Burton Helzer met with the team via seaplane, ostensibly to study Godzilla, though the duo quickly revealed their true intentions were to kill Godzilla with a specialized poison in retribution for Godzilla's first attack on Tokyo roughly forty years prior. The duo held G-Force hostage as Yoshiwara fired the poison at Godzilla with a missile launcher, which initially appeared to be ineffective. After Kino disarmed Helzer, however, Godzilla awoke, bleeding profusely. G-Force, Yoshiwara, and Helzer fled to the seaplane, escaping Godzilla's wrath in the nick of time as he destroyed their research vessel.
"Dramatization"
G-Force member Také Fukuda appeared as a guest on a news program to provide insight on Godzilla's whereabouts, revealing that the monster had not been seen in ten months since he was poisoned and that G-Force has been developing a beacon intended to attract and pacify Godzilla. The interview was promptly interrupted by the appearance of Godzilla, who surfaced off the coast of Vancouver. Kino collected Také using a G-Force V.T.O.L. before heading to Godzilla's location. Dr. Kazushi convinced Colonel Cameron to stave off a military assault and allow the team to test their beacon. Though briefly successful, the beacon soon malfunctioned, agitating Godzilla into attacking and downing the V.T.O.L., though Kino and Také were unscathed. After being rescued by reporter Kate Koshiro, Kino discovered that the beacon had been sabotaged. Kazushi tried unsuccessfully to dissuade Cameron from launching Cybersaur, and soon after, Kino and Také witnessed the mech's arrival, with Také revealing that the mech was a joint G-Force and United Nations creation.
"Property Damage"
Cybersaur engaged Godzilla as G-Force watched, though the piloting team were severely outmatched in the ensuing battle, leading to the death of the mech's pilot. Kino and Také ventured to the downed Cybersaur to assist the crew and make repairs. Dr. Kazushi and Dr. Reiko rendezvoused with Také and collected the beacon. G-Force again fruitlessly attempted to persuade the military to stand down before trying to escape Godzilla aboard their V.T.O.L. when Kino arrived with the repaired Cybersaur to save the rest of the team. Cybersaur successfully took Godzilla down, seemingly killing the beast in the process.
"Long Live the King!"
G-Force and military forces established a base around Godzilla's body before discovering that he was not dead after all. Shortly thereafter, a space monster dubbed Bagorah, which had been attracted to Earth by Godzilla's cries, arrived and encountered Cybersaur, once more piloted by Kino. Cybersaur briefly repelled the alien while G-Force worked on refitting the beacon for use as a weapon. When Bagorah inevitably returned, however, Kino was unable to stop the monster as it tore into Cybersaur's body and crippled the mech. Fortunately, Yoshiwara and Helzer arrived and injected Godzilla with an antitoxin, waking him before Bagorah could feast on his body.
"Godzilla vs. Bagorah"
Amidst the chaotic battle, Kazushi and Také led a rescue mission to save the pilots of Cybersaur, which included Kino. With Cybersaur's fuel tanks leaking, it was only a matter of time before the machine exploded, though G-Force was able to rescue the surviving pilots in time. Meanwhile, Godzilla defeated Bagorah while Yoshiwara was murdered by Colonel Cameron behind closed doors.
"Target: Godzilla! Part One"
In Washington, G-Force, Kate Koshiro, and the military observed Godzilla as he advanced towards Portland, with Cameron rejecting the team's advice not to antagonize Godzilla as he unveiled a new robot - the All-Terraintula. As Godzilla battled the robot, G-Force witnessed the unexpected arrival of the Dianii, a race of giant alien hunters that had been pursuing Bagorah. G-Force noticed that Cameron appeared to recognize the aliens, going as far as naming them. Kazushi, Reiko, and Kino departed in one of their V.T.O.L.s to follow the Dianii as they emerged from their craft and watched as the giants disabled the All-Terraintula so they could focus on hunting Godzilla without competition.
"Target: Godzilla! Part Two"
Unable to intervene against the giant aliens, G-Force could only watch as the Dianii revived the dazed and tranquillized Godzilla to ensure he would be worthy of their hunt. G-Force attempted to persuade the aliens to cease their hunt, as they were endangering all lives in the city, but the Dianii were unfazed by these pleas.
"Target: Godzilla! Part 3"
Kazushi and Reiko continued in vain to convince the Dianii to stop. Meanwhile, Cameron took Také and Kate with a squadron of soldiers to investigate the Dianii craft. As Kazushi and Reiko observed Godzilla killing the Dianii hunters one-by-one, Cameron and his men incapacitated a female Dianii - the captain's niece - before finally revealing their true identities as Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens, unable to continue the ruse any further in the presence of Také and Kate.
"Target: Godzilla! Part 4"
Cameron detailed his plans for global conquest to Také and Kate before also revealing that he was responsible for sabotaging the G-Force beacon, as his people wanted to ensure that no one stood between their plans of controlling Godzilla for themselves. Kino rescued Kazushi and Reiko and learned of Cameron's plans from Také, who intentionally left his communicator on. The Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens hijacked the Dianii ship and reactivated the All-Terraintula as they set their invasion plans into motion, though Také and Kate schemed with the revived captain's niece to sabotage the ship's shields. The lone surviving Dianii hunter assisted Godzilla in destroying the All-Terraintula. Godzilla then destroyed the Dianii vessel which simultaneously wiped out the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens and last Dianii hunter, but not before the captain's niece was able to evacuate Také and Kate aboard an escape ship. The captain's niece then deposited the two humans with the rest of G-Force before leaving Earth. G-Force watched as Godzilla departed the city, vowing to follow the King of the Monsters wherever he goes.
"Lost in Time!"
As G-Force tested a Proton Generator against a rampaging Godzilla, the King of the Monsters inexplicably disappeared before their very eyes. Kazushi later confirmed that their weapon was unable to perform such a feat and that someone or something else was to blame. Kazushi and a colleague, Dr. Marina Meltev, deduced that Professor Elmer Mason, a madman obsessed with time travel who disappeared just prior to Godzilla's disappearance, was a likely culprit. Kazushi and Reiko detailed their theory that Mason was using Godzilla to cause and exploit historical disasters for his own gain. Kazushi also revealed that prior to his work for G-Force, he had been developing a time machine of his own which was now complete. With that, the team pinpointed possible historical events Mason would target and prepared to embark on a mission like no other.
"Horror on the High Seas!"
Dr. Meltev and Helzer used the time machine to travel to England in the year 1588. As Godzilla laid waste to the Spanish Armada while Mason and his men looted the destroyed ships, Meltev and Helzer met William Shakespeare and Kit Marlowe in a bar while seeking information before setting off aboard Sir Francis Drake's ship in response to reports that a sea monster was attacking the armada. Mason recognized Meltev and realized that G-Force was onto his scheme, prompting him to depart to another year, but not before Meltev and Helzer were able to capture Nick Dixon, Mason's right-hand man. Meanwhile, in 1996, Také and Kino were sent to aid Meltev and Helzer by stopping Godzilla, though the time machine malfunctioned and instead sent them to the distant future. Fortunately, Kazushi was able to rectify the error, but sent them to 1906 next.
"Terror on the Titanic!"
Také and Kino traveled to 1912 aboard the RMS Titanic while Meltev and Helzer returned to the present with Dixon, where G-Force detained and interrogated him. The G-Force members aboard the Titanic used a Proton-Plasma Generator in an attempt to deter Godzilla, but failed as the monster sunk the ship and changed history by being credited for the disaster as opposed to an iceberg. Meltev and Helzer traveled to 1906 and employed a Proton Wave Disperser against Godzilla as Mason looted a zoo for exotic animals to be transported to the future. Though the Proton Wave Disperser proved successful, Mason teleported Godzilla away as G-Force reconvened in the present.
"We Have Seen The Future, And It Has Been Destroyed By Godzilla"
G-Force discovered that Mason had traveled to 2299 and sent an android modelled after Dixon to learn of his plans, discovering that Mason had been contracted to secure extinct exotic animals from the past - including Godzilla himself. G-Force learned of Mason's new goal of using Godzilla and other giant monsters to take over the world of the future. An argument between Mason and Dixon resulted in the former shooting the latter, exposing the ruse while G-Force were revealed to be operating the robot from inside of its head. Meltev and Helzer subdued Mason, and while Mason briefly held the team at gunpoint, Godzilla appeared behind him and devoured the mad scientist and his time travel device, sending Godzilla to an unknown time. G-Force promptly returned to their own time, but were uncertain of what would come next with Godzilla's whereabouts unknown.
"Turf War"
G-Force responded to a monster attack in San Javier, Peru, believing it to be their first definitive proof that Godzilla had returned to the present after the time travel incident. Helzer, however, argued that another monster could also have been responsible, and as G-Force interviewed locals and surveyed the area, it became clear that they were dealing with a new monster, who Helzer jokingly named "Burtannus" after himself. Kino and Také descended into a tunnel created by the monster, where they discovered baby monsters and realized Burtannus was a mother just as the monster arrived. Meanwhile, the rest of the team witnessed the Peruvian military engaging Godzilla himself on the coast, having finally returned. Kino and Také used a specialized light to temporarily blind Burtannus as they made their escape. G-Force then witnessed the subsequent battle between Godzilla and Burtannus, with G-Force's research ship being washed to land by the waves of the fight, though all members survived unscathed. The duel ended in a stalemate as Burtannus departed with her young.
"To Climb the Highest Monster!"
After Godzilla made landfall on one of the Society Islands in the South Pacific, G-Force decided to take the opportunity to test a Nervous System Suppressor that Kazushi designed. Kino and Také were tasked with climbing Godzilla in specialized radiation suits to place the device on his head, hoping to shock him into unconsciousness. As the duo caught up to Godzilla on a pair of Wet-Bikes - speedboats capable of transforming into mountain bikes - Helzer used G-Force's V.T.O.L. in an attempt to slow Godzilla's attack on the island. Kino and Také soon mounted Godzilla's back and began their ascent, encountering a Shockirus which was killed by Také before planting the device around Godzilla's ear and parachuting off of his head. Though the experiment initially appeared successful and caused Godzilla to fall, a volcanic eruption roused Godzilla and prompted him to swipe the device off his head. G-Force was left to deal with the angry locals, who blamed them for Godzilla's attack on their island.
"The Yamazaki Endowment"
In Australia, G-Force and the Australian army observed Godzilla standing motionless on Manly Beach, with Kazushi pleading with a general not to engage. Just then, the team received satellite scans of a massive unidentified object approaching Godzilla's position. The team bore witness to the arrival of the Lord Howe Monster, which initially overpowered Godzilla. After rescuing Kino from the path of the battling behemoths, Také instructed Helzer to get as close to the action as possible with their V.T.O.L. so he could record footage of the fight. Godzilla eventually prevailed while G-Force pledged to help the army clean up the mess left in the monsters' wake. The team also traced the new monster's previous path, discovering that it originated from Lord Howe Island.
"Godzilla: The Origins of a Species"
At their Arctic base, Kazushi Kagaku and Také Fukuda engaged in an anonymous online discussion with the enigmatic Destiny, who, unbeknownst to the team, was the alias of Dr. Yamazaki. Kazushi initiated a debate concerning Godzilla's origins as Také attempted to trace Destiny's signal. Kazushi attempted to stall the conversation for as long as possible, though Yamazaki disconnected before G-Force could learn of her location or identity. Kazushi shared with Také his suspicions that the woman was responsible for the Lord Howe Monster and believed Godzilla may be their best hope at defending the planet from other giant monsters she may create.

Trivia
- This version of G-Force predates the Heisei Godzilla film series organization of the same name, which was introduced just over one year later in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993).
- Dark Horse's G-Force is patterned after Marvel's Fantastic Four, with this team also consisting of two married scientists, one of their closest friends, and the female scientist's younger brother.
- G-Force is featured in all but two issues of the Dark Horse Godzilla continuity - the 1987 Godzilla, King of the Monsters Special and Godzilla #16.
- The location of G-Force's headquarters is inconsistent. In Godzilla #2, G-Force's base is placed on the northeast coast of Japan, though all later issues, including A Decade of Dark Horse #4, place it in the Arctic, specifically on the Ellesmere Sound.
- G-Force possesses at least four different V.T.O.L.s - two red ones sporting different designs, a grey one, and a blue one - though no two were ever deployed at the same time. However, two of them were seen together stationed at G-Force's headquarters in A Decade of Dark Horse #4.
- Though Professor Noriko Yoshiwara was established to be a colleague of G-Force and worked on G-Force's base following her poisoning of Godzilla, it is unclear if she was ever considered a member of the organization, unlike Burton Helzer, who was later recruited.
