"Target: Godzilla! Part 4" is the eighth issue of Dark Horse's Godzilla. It was released on January 1, 1996.[1]

Information

This issue originally was sold for $2.50.[1]

Description

How much punishment can the King of the Monsters take, anyway? Godzilla has already survived several attacks by a race of fierce, alien hunters. Now he needs a little help from his friends from G-Force, or else it's certain extinction at the hands of the fiercest hunters in the galaxy![1]

Plot

Col. Cameron explains that his kind hail from the Third Planet from the Black Hole and plan to take over the Dianii ship for use in their conquest of Earth. Meanwhile, Godzilla is going to crush another Dianii hunter beneath his feet when an even larger one grabs hold of his tail, preventing the blow from falling. Godzilla lashes the hunter mercilessly and finally flings him into a building, causing the structure to bury the alien. Back on the space ship, Cameron reveals that he had G-Force's beacon sabotaged to prevent the Earthlings from gaining control over Godzilla and had Professor Yoshiwara killed to keep her from creating a poison that might be used on the monsters the Black Hole Aliens might create. The rest of G-Force overhears the entire conversation on their VTOL's radio.

Godzilla turns the tables and starts to hunt the remaining Dianii. Meanwhile, the All-Terraintula rises, the Black Hole Alien onboard killing his human copilot on Cameron's orders. The Black Hole Alien lift off in the Dianii ship, bound for Portland and Godzilla.

The Dianii archer tries to hold off Godzilla while his fellows try to reach the ship. Godzilla topples a skyscraper on the alien, burying him. The ship arrives as Godzilla advances toward the remaining Dianii. The Black Hole Aliens open fire on both Godzilla and the Dianii. The All-Terraintula also arrives and incinerates the Dianii captain. Enraged, the last Dianii grabs the All-Terraintula and flings it at Godzilla. Godzilla catches the robot and crushes it, absorbing the nuclear energy that the robot had absorbed earlier. The Dianii onboard the space ship revives and helps Také and Kate disable the ship's shields just as Cameron aims his guns at G-Force's VTOL. Godzilla blasts the space ship with his atomic breath. The Dianii and humans escape in the ship's lifeboat, but the Black Hole Aliens perish in the resulting explosion. Thinking himself stranded, the last hunter walks into the falling wreckage and is incinerated.

After depositing Také and Kate on the ground, the lifeboat makes for the stars. Godzilla slowly makes his way out of Portland.
