Godzilla: Cataclysm #2 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was released on September 17, 2014.

Description

An angry Godzilla returns to do battle once again! With Biollante and Mothra awakening both fears and hopes in humanity, only Hiroshi has a glimpse at the terrible truth! Will his village survive the monsters' terrible onslaught?

Plot

Shiori and Arata, the only survivors from the group that went into the ruins of the city, run for cover as Biollante and Godzilla fight. When Godzilla begins overpowering Biollante after setting parts of her on fire following an atomic blast to her front, Mothra arrives and slams Godzilla down with her wing. With Godzilla down, Mothra proceeds to heal Biollante's wound, but it ends up being of no use as Godzilla gets back up and shreds Biollante with an atomic breath attack and then burns part of Mothra's wing. While Shiori and Arata were running away, Shiori stopped briefly, putting something in his bag and then continued running with Arata toward the village.

Meanwhile, the concerned members of the village have come together to discuss the trembling sounds they heard earlier, not aware yet that the monsters were back. Arata and Shiori arrive and meet with their grandfather Hiroshi, revealing to him that the monsters have returned. After hearing this, Hiroshi insists the two tell him everything before they tell the council. During this time, Hiroshi clarifies to them that the monsters are not gods as other people rationalize, but merely wild animals. Shiori goes on to say that Biollante was growing in size and that she might have made the world green again but Godzilla attacked her, as if Godzilla did not want anything to grow.

Following the reveal that Godzilla was back, in the middle of the night, the villagers began panicking. Hiroshi specifically was begging that Godzilla forgive them for what had almost been done to him years ago, and to give everyone peace. At the same time, unbeknownst to Hiroshi or anyone else, Shiori woke up and took a Biollante rose out of his bag.
