Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons II - Sons of Giants #3 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was published on September 11, 2024.[1]

Description

For the first time, the biblical origins of one of Godzilla’s greatest allies will be revealed — MOTHRA. A mysterious kaiju who appears in times of need — now revealed to have once laid siege to Egypt in the real story behind the eighth biblical plague.
Then, in 1804, watch as the Sons of Giants begin to unravel… And finally, what brought all of the kaiju to Rome hundreds of years ago? This sequel to the hit miniseries digs deeper into Godzilla lore, unveiling the secret history of the world long hidden — until now![1]

Plot

President Thomas Jefferson casts the Plagues of Egypt described in the Book of Exodus in a different light, suggesting that it was Mothra who parted the Red Sea, saving Moses and the Israelites and dooming Pharoah's army. He adds that the blade in his arm was once possessed by Cleopatra, herself a Mothra worshiper, and used by her in rituals. Mortimer Lane assumes that Jefferson means to murder him with the blade, but the president explains that the Sons of Giants are a higher-minded order, not a cult. Throwing down a newspaper, he asks Lane to explain his public opposition to the Louisiana Purchase. The reporter states that he found Napoleon's easy willingness to sell the land to the United States suspicious. Jefferson confirms his suspicions that Napoleon is a fellow Son. Lane is nonplussed, as his research indicates that many major historical figures were likely members of the order. Jefferson explains that while many Sons were morally dubious, all were capable of putting aside their differences in the name of the greater good. As he approaches Lane with the blade, the reporter again believes his end to be at hand, but Jefferson, alluding to threats that they face now and have faced in the past, instead resumes his story of kaiju in ancient Rome.

Godzilla, Hedorah, Rodan, and Mothra engage in an all-out melee in Rome before the arrival of the extraterrestrial King Ghidorah knocks them all back. The kaiju regain their footing and resolve to work together to defeat him. Lane is incredulous that aliens could exist; Jefferson, continuing to approach, affirms that he is quite serious. To Lane's surprise, Jefferson simply makes two shallow cuts on Lane's hand, then his. Pressing them together, he declares that he brought Lane here so that he could join the Sons.
