Godzilla: Cataclysm #3 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was released on October 22, 2014.

Description

Hiroshi’s tribe debates how to best avert the wraith of the rising monster, unaware that they may have already brought doom upon themselves! As monsters battle in the skies above, the choice Hiroshi makes will have profound effects on the future of humanity!

Plot

The day after the kaiju 'gods' returned, everyone in the village was brought together. A handful of men proposed that sacrifices should be brought back to please the gods. Arata and Shiori speak up before anyone could volunteer though, and explain that the reason the monsters had returned is that they were attracted to the growing plant monster, Biollante, for different reasons. When the men tried to continue with continuing sacrifices, Hiroshi spoke up and explained that the monsters do not want anything more out of humans. When pushed on how exactly he knows this, Hiroshi explained that he knew how they thought and that they wanted revenge—a flashback reminding him of the event where he learned how the kaiju thought. He detailed that Godzilla destroyed Biollante to make it so the world would not flourish again; hence, humanity would not have the chance to hurt him ever again. Since Biollante was gone now, there was no threat of Godzilla attacking again. When Hiroshi finished talking, he looked at a suspicious-looking Shiori. After realizing what was going on, he followed them to their home. When they arrived, the Biollante flower had grown into a rosebush to the size of the room.

Without skipping a beat, Hiroshi cut out Biollante's core and told his two grandchildren that it needed to be taken away from the village in order to save it. However, it proved to be too late, as Megaguirus arrived with a swarm of Meganula, who began taking people away and eating Biollante's vines. The three men started running away from the village, and at the same time Mothra appeared to fight Megaguirus, followed by Godzilla arriving. Arata jumps to wanting to kill Biollante to drive off Godzilla, however Hiroshi sides with Shiori and decides to keep Biollante alive to have the world be reborn.
