History
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
The Vortaak were a dominant alien species that conquered other planets to expand their civilization. They attacked Earth in the most effective way possible: controlling its kaiju and unleashing them on the planet's major cities. Godzilla (or whatever monster the player chooses) broke free from the alien mind control and defeated the other kaiju, who were released from their control and fled to their homes. The Vortaak brought the player's monster aboard their mothership for a final battle. Their "champion," Mechagodzilla (or Mecha-King Ghidorah if the player is playing as Mechagodzilla, or Kiryu if the player is playing as Orga in the Xbox version) was released, but the player's monster defeated the champion and was teleported back to Earth as the Vortaak fled, vowing that they would return.
In the Xbox version of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, the Vortaak homeworld, simply called "Vortaak," is an arena. It is unlocked by beating adventure mode with Kiryu. The planet has a harsh volcanic landscape surrounded by mountains, with rocks and a few buildings in the arena.
Godzilla: Save the Earth
Vorticia, Queen of the Vortaak, oversaw her planet's attempts to conquer the Earth. Due to Earth's scientists unlocking the secrets of Godzilla's DNA and encapsulating it in special containers called "G-Cells," Vorticia sent some of her alien monsters to try to steal the G-Cells, and use them to create the ultimate monster . Godzilla (or the monster of the player's choosing) traveled across the globe after becoming aware of their arrival. The selected monster passed numerous tests, including defeating a large variety of monsters, until they were brought aboard the Vortaak Mothership to battle the aliens' champion. The player's monster won the battle and returned home once again, leaving Queen Vorticia screaming as they fled. If the game is played on hard difficulty as Godzilla 2000, SpaceGodzilla replaces Orga as the final opponent, and when he is defeated a cutscene is shown where he is sent into a black hole. Godzilla 2000 roars in triumph, and the Vortaak UFO leave Earth's atmosphere and retreat into space.
Godzilla: Unleashed
The Vortaak returned yet again to conquer Earth in the next entry in the series, Godzilla: Unleashed. Their Alien faction, consisting of Gigan, King Ghidorah, Megalon, Mechagodzilla and Orga were not the main antagonists of the game, however, with SpaceGodzilla and his Mutant faction filling that role. They still played an important role in the game's storyline and climax as they controlled one of the main elements throughout the game and its changing storyline. The Vortaak Mothership was damaged by the crystal incursion, and rather than fixing it, Vorticia focused all the Vortaak's power on the recently discovered alien crystals on Earth. Her plan was to send the player's monster to Earth to steal the crystals to empower her own monsters. The Mothership was eventually brought down in gameplay when an Earth Defender or GDF mecha knocked the ship out of the sky with their beam or by throwing a few well-place buildings at it, which caused it to crash in San Francisco.
