Deathber (デスバー,   Desubā) is a future kaiju deployed by Neo Descal who first appeared in episode 14 of the 2005 tokusatsu series Super Fleet Sazer-X, entitled "Neo Descal, an Enemy from the Future."

Name

Deathber's name is derived from the English word "death," rendered in Japanese as desu (デス). Early in production it was named Heddorah (ヘッドラー,   Heddorā), after Hedorah.[2]

The upgraded form that Deathber receives in episode 18 is referred to as Neo Deathber (ネオデスバー,   Neo Desubā).[1]

Development

Deathber and Neo Deathber were both designed by Minoru Yoshida.[3] The character is an homage to Hedorah, as evidenced by its working name. Like all of Super Fleet Sazer-X's monsters, Deathber's suit was built by Kaimai Productions.[4] The company later modified the suit into Neo Deathber.[5]

Design

Deathber is a dull-colored sludge-like monster with tendrils across its body and red, glowing eyes. It also has human-like eyeballs near its shoulders and two three-clawed hands.
