Dorola (ドロラ,   Dorora) is a genetically-altered tribrid kaiju created by Toho that first appeared in episode 3 of the 1973 tokusatsu kaiju series Zone Fighter, titled "Strike! The Garogas' Underground Base."

Design

Dorola is a bipedal reptilian kaiju who is bluish-gray in color. He has a long crab-like claw on one arm and a rose vine on the other. He has two lizard-like heads on opposite sides of his body, with orange eyes lacking features. He has two horns sticking out of the top of his head, and one sticking out of the top of his forehead.

Zone Fighter

"Strike! The Garogas' Underground Base"

Instead of experimenting with machinery like they did Destro-King, for their third beast the Garogas decided to experiment with DNA. Dorola was the result of combining the DNA of a reptile and crab with a rose. Soon after deployment of Dorola, Zone Fighter appeared to save the day. Zone's attempt was short-lived however, after Dorola's toxic smog temporarily drained the hero of his powers. While Zone recovered, Zone Angel and Zone Junior stepped in before his power was regained. Zone grew once more to battle, but this time he would not be defeated. He quickly proved himself to the monster, slicing Dorola's arms clean off. Fearing death, the helpless monster began spraying his mist, fogging up the city. Zone used his Plasma Capsule to clear the blinding smog, leaving Dorola wide open. Zone finished off the monster with his Meteor Missile Might attack.

Abilities

Physical abilities

Dorola has a serrated crab claw for a left hand and a rose vine for a right hand. Though Dorola did not land any blows against Zone Fighter with the former, its capabilities were shown when Zone cut it off and wielded it to slice off Dorola's other arm. The rose vine, meanwhile, was used to great effect, whipping and constricting Zone. The vine is also tipped with a flower which can clamp down on an opponent like a pair of teeth; Dorola used this to grab Zone by the face and slam him to the ground. Dorola also kicked Zone while he was floored, and rammed into him from behind.

Fourth-Dimensional Gas

Dorola can expel reddish-pink Fourth-Dimensional Gas (四次元ガス,   Shijigen Gasu)[3] from his mouth, which envelops the surrounding area in a "four-dimensional net" (四次元ネット,   shijigen netto), transforming everything around it into a fourth-dimensional space.[2] This was not only able to conceal a Garoga base from the third dimension, but also gave Zone Fighter the impression that Dorola was teleporting. Moreover, when Zone Fighter was caught in the gas, it clung to his body and caused him to gasp for air, ultimately causing him to collapse.

Vision

As noted in All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), due to the way Dorola's heads are placed, he is able to see a full 360 degrees.[3]
