Snow Godzilla (雪のゴジラ, or simply Godzilla Yuki no Gojira) (ゴジラ, is a Gojira)kaiju who appears in the 2019 animated film Shinkalion the Movie, a continuation of the 2018-2019 television series Shinkasen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: The Animation. He is the third incarnation of Godzilla to appear in a feature-length animated film, after Godzilla Filius and Godzilla Earth from the GODZILLA anime trilogy.

Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ), comes from a combination of the Japanese approximation of "gorilla" (ゴリラ, and kujira gorira) (クジラ), the Japanese word for "whale."
Characters in Shinkalion the Movie identify the monster as Godzilla or "Godzilla... basically" until Akagi Honjo assigns him the designation "Snow Godzilla".
Development
Takuya Uenishi designed and modeled Snow Godzilla. Earlier in 2019, his fan film G vs. G became one of six winners in the Godzilla-themed GEMSTONE Creators Audition held by Toho and AlphaBoat. Though Snow Godzilla appears incredibly similar to the Godzilla featured in G vs. G, it is unclear whether the same CG model was modified or a new one was made from scratch. Uenishi went on to direct two short Godzilla films for Toho, Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex (2022) and Godzilla vs. Megalon, which utilized the same basic Godzilla design.
Design
Snow Godzilla heavily resembles the Godzilla design in the short film G vs. G, which in turn is reminiscent of the Heisei Godzilla designs used from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) to Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). Like the Godzilla in Shin Godzilla (2016), a nictitating membrane covers his eyes during the charge-up and utilization of his atomic breath, though it is lighter in color. Aside from his lower body and eye membranes, Snow Godzilla's tail sticks upwards in a stiff motion like that of the 2016 Godzilla as well. His eyes possess yellow irises and black sclera. The outline of his dorsal fins fades to blue and bears a texture that is identical to ice and snow. The denser patches of white on his body are similar in placement to the orange patches on Burning Godzilla in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. His teeth bear an ice-like texture and are very exposed and crooked against each other in multiple rows. His gums are black, he possesses an ice blue tongue, and his mouth is capable of opening incredibly wide.
Personality
Though he caused little destruction during his brief appearances, Snow Godzilla was quick to target any potential foe. He attacked Hatsune Miku's Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa and Nahane's Valdor on sight, also making the first move against Hayato Hayasugi's Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII and Hokuto Hayasugi's Shinkalion 923 Doctor Yellow after they confronted him inside a Capture Field.
Origins
A large quantity of Glowing Particles transport Snow Godzilla to an Earth defended by Shinkalions, giant robots which can transform into bullet trains. Construction workers discover the particles inside Konbu Tunnel in Southern Hokkaido shortly before the monster emerges. Godzilla is implied to be a fictional character in the Shinkalion universe, as numerous members of the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute instantly recognize him. His origins in his own dimension are unexplored.
History
Shinkalion the Movie
Glowing Particles burst through a wall in the Konbu Tunnel in Southern Hokkaido. The Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute Hokkaido Branch detected the event and dispatched Hatsune Miku in Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa to investigate. Arriving during a snowstorm, she spotted a familiar-looking dinosaur-like monster. He fired snow breath at the H5, knocking it on its back, and vanished along with the storm.
The particles next brought the monster to Niyama Plateau Ski Resort, where the Hayasugi family was vacationing and Miku had just concluded a concert. A stunned Hokuto explained to his son Hayato that this was no ordinary giant monster, and his daughter Haruka identified him as "Godzilla... basically." The Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute Omiya Branch fired a Capture Field at the creature from a satellite, enveloping him and concealing him from civilian view. Hayato and Hokuto confronted Godzilla inside the field, piloting Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII and Shinkalion 923 Doctor Yellow, respectively. As the other members of Omiya Branch reeled at the sight of the legendary kaiju, operator Akagi Honjo assigned him the designation "Snow Godzilla."
Snow Godzilla swung his tail at the mechs, who both leaped over it. The 923 Doctor Yellow retaliated with its railgun, but to no effect. Traveling swiftly along the rails surrounding the arena, the E5 MkII leaped at Snow Godzilla's back, but its Turnstile Blade proved equally useless. Snow Godzilla reared back and roared, knocking the E5 MkII to the ground, then fired his atomic breath at the prone robot. As Hayato screamed, Hokuto ran to shield him with the 923 Doctor Yellow. Glowing Particles expanded from Snow Godzilla's body to engulf both mechs, after which the monster vanished again. The particles also temporally switched Hokuto with his 9-year-old self and briefly returned Hayato to the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Battling the alien weapon Valdor inside the Tokyo Station Central Counterattack System, Hayato harnessed Black Particles from Suzaku to summon assistance from other dimensions. Snow Godzilla emerged shortly after Shinji Ikari's Shinkalion 500 TYPE EVA, terrifying Valdor's pilot, Nahane. Godzilla blasted Valdor with atomic breath, with Hayato and the younger Hokuto delivering the final blows. Upon the villain's defeat, Snow Godzilla returned to his home dimension, along with Ikari and the younger Hokuto. The adult Hokuto reunited with his family shortly thereafter.
Abilities
Atomic breath
Snow Godzilla possesses Godzilla's trademark atomic breath, which in this case is a blue ray with yellow highlights. Both Hayato Hayasugi and Nahane screamed in pain when their mechs were struck by this attack, although it did not leave any visible damage and the latter was weakened enough to be destroyed by the pair of blows next dealt against it.
Glowing Particles
Snow Godzilla's sudden appearances and disappearances in the world of Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion are the result of Glowing Particles, an energy source utilized by the faction of the ancient Kitoralsus civilization which left Earth to colonize space. These particles can unpredictably transport individuals across space and time; usually, these individuals lose their memories upon returning to their original realities. After Snow Godzilla blasted Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII and Shinkalion 923 Doctor Yellow with his atomic breath, Glowing Particles enveloped both mechs, replacing the adult Hokuto Hayasugi with his younger self and briefly sending Hayato Hayasugi to another reality. Following his battle with the E5 MkII and 923 Doctor Yellow, the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute observed that Glowing Particles "seemed to make up his body," although this theory was not followed up on. Snow Godzilla does not appear to exert any control over the Glowing Particles' effects.
Snow breath
Snow Godzilla fired a blast of air and snow at Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa, knocking it off its feet.
Physical abilities
Snow Godzilla swung his tail as his opening attack against Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII and Shinkalion 923 Doctor Yellow, with the smaller mechs leaping over it just in time. Later in the battle, he easily flung the E5 MkII off his back.
Durability
Snow Godzilla was unaffected by Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII's Turnstile Blade or Shinkalion 923 Doctor Yellow's rail gun.
Weather manipulation
During his first appearance, Snow Godzilla was accompanied by a thick blizzard which disappeared after he returned to his home dimension. A lesser snowstorm picked up once he was inside the Capture Field, and surrounded him again during his third manifestation. It is unknown whether Snow Godzilla can control this ability.
Roar
Snow Godzilla reuses roars from the Showa Godzilla.

Notes
- ↑ The character Akagi Honjo estimates Snow Godzilla's 体長 to be 118.5 meters. While this word can refer to either body length or height, it is assumed to be the latter due to the measurement matching the height of the Godzilla incarnation in Shin Godzilla.
