The name "Mothra" is the suffixation of "-ra" (a common last syllable in kaiju names) to "moth." Since the Japanese language does not have dental fricatives, it is approximated "Mosura" in Japanese.
Mothra in Godziban resembles her traditional Showa design. She is a large colorful moth with multicolored orange, yellow, and black wings, large blue eyes, and a brown mouth. She has six legs with clawed feet. In official artwork for the series, she is depicted with purple eyelids and noticeable eyelashes.
- Godziban (web 2019-) [episodes 40, 54, and 57; special episodes 3, 10, and 12]
Mothra battled the evil Desghidorah, dodging his fireballs before sealing him away. Mothra returned to Infant Island, where her priestesses Lune and Luna greeted her. Mothra summoned forth an egg before her priestesses bid her farewell, and she died and ascended into the sky. Some time later, after her egg had hatched into Moshu-Moshu and Moshuu-Moshuu and the two larvae had grown somewhat, Mothra's spirit contacted them using a mystical cup attached to a string. The two larvae soon set out from Infant Island and swam off into the ocean, with Mothra's spirit watching over them.
Mothra is capable of flight. She is fairly mobile while in the air, dodging most of Desghidorah's fireballs.
Mothra can form a mystical seal that banishes her enemies. She used this ability to seal away Desghidorah. When Mothra died, the image of her seal lit up the sky and was visible as far away as Godzi Godzi Island, where Grandpa Zilla witnessed it and mourned the loss of his old friend.
Mothra can reproduce asexually by summoning forth an egg. This seemingly took the last of her strength, as she passed away shortly after summoning the egg.
