Shipdraw (シップドロー,   Shippudorō) is a cephalopod kaiju created by Toho that first appeared in episode 10 of the 1973 tokusatsu kaiju series Zone Fighter, titled "Zone Fighter Annihilated."

Design

Shipdraw resembles a cross between an octopus and a starfish. He has a large head with three yellow eyes on the top of it with a hole in the middle, and several long orange-ish sucker-covered tendrils extending from it, obscuring a portion of his bulbous body. He has relatively fat legs with clawed feet, and thin arms that end in tentacles. He also has red armor plating on his torso with eyes on the upper portion. Shipdraw also possesses a short and stubby tail, with some spiky kelp-like pieces on his backside trailing down to it.

Zone Fighter

"Zone Fighter Annihilated"

Shipdraw was sent by the Garogas as a distraction in order to make Zone Fighter grow into his giant form and battle the cephalopod-like kaiju. As Shipdraw rampaged through a city, he was engaged by Mighty Liner and Smokey. Hikaru soon transformed outside of Mighty Liner and into his giant form. The two of them battled briefly with the climax resulting in Shipdraw being left injured on the ground, with the eyes on his head dimming. Right when Zone was about to leave, Shadorah emerged from his body after leeching off his energy since the hero destroyed his energy bubble, challenging the hero and eventually leaving Zone to collapse after he failed to damage the shadow creature. This bought Shadorah time to help Shipdraw up to his feet, where he was then ushered to safety by the shadow kaiju.

Abilities

Physical abilities

Shipdraw destroyed buildings by stomping on them. While Mighty Liner and Smokey were attacking him, he attempted to swipe them out of the air with his tentacles. Shipdraw also possesses an extremely soft body, which enabled him to withstand Zone Fighter's blunt attacks. During their fight, Shipdraw used his tentacles to smack and slap around the hero as well as briefly grapple him. The first time he was thrown to the ground, Shipdraw quickly regained his footing, although he struggled the second time.

Electricity

According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), Shipdraw can electrify the tentacles on his head and hands.[3]

Needles

According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), Shipdraw has poisonous needles on his tentacles.[3]

Intelligence

Shipdraw was shown to be smart enough to play dead after being injured by Zone, allowing Shadorah to take on the hero. He was also able to recognize that Shadorah was his ally, and followed the shadow kaiju after leaving Zone Fighter behind with his injuries.

Durability

When first emerging, Shipdraw withstood a volley of blasts from Mighty Liner and a beam from Smokey, and did not appear to be harmed from them. When fighting against Zone Fighter's giant form, Shipdraw was kneed in the chest repeatedly by the hero and endured numerous Meteor Punches. When being thrown to the ground a second time, Shipdraw struggled to get to his feet due to being injured, with his eyes slowly dimming. However, he survived the fight against Zone and was ushered to safety by Shadorah.
