— Felix Hoenikker, the creature's creator ("Talkin' Trash")

The Nanotech Creature is a petroleum-eating microbe colony monster who appears in episode 4 of Godzilla: The Series, entitled "Talkin' Trash."

Design

Every form of the Nanotech Creature is orange and has brown patterns covering its entire body.

A single Nanobot has two arms, six legs, what resembles a mouth on the front of its body, and a hole on its back which is its actual mouth.

In its Unadapted form, the Nanotech Creature is a gelatinous mass of multiple tentacles.

In its Aquatic form, the Nanotech Creature has a more animal-like body, eight legs, two antennae, two tails with a row of spikes running down both tails, and two spear-tipped tusks in front of its body.

In its Powered-Up form, the Nanotech Creature is larger and now has a circular mouth. The Nanotech Creature has tentacles around its mouth and other tentacles sprouting from every part of its body.

In its Final form, the Nanotech Creature is much larger. It also now has a head in the shape of a nanobot with tentacles coming out of its head to imitate the arms and legs of a nanobot, as well as two holes on the part that resembles a lower jaw. It also has small tentacles sprouting from its body.

Origin

The Nanotech Creature was created by Dr. Felix Hoenikker to help deal with the increasing amount of trash in New York City during a sanitation workers' strike.

History

Godzilla: The Series

"Talkin' Trash"

The Nanotech Creature was created by Dr. Felix Hoenikker of the Manhattan Institute for Advanced Technology, using the institution's grant money to help to combat the refuse problem in the city. It consisted of a colony of microbes with nanotech drivers attached to them. It was released to the public against its creator's advice to devour the garbage that had been collecting during a sanitation worker strike; unfortunately, due to its being released on the city before it was tested, it was unable to identify garbage, and began to devour everything in its path. H.E.A.T. then attempted to apprehend the creature, and tried to overload its circuitry with an electromagnetic pulse, but they were not equipped to handle as large a mass as the Nanotech Creature. The creature then took to the water to pursue H.E.A.T., and later attacked a cargo ship, where it was met by Godzilla. While they fought, the Nanotech Creature held the upper hand, and nearly smothered Godzilla, but H.E.A.T. created a virus to disable the creature by separating the drivers from the microbes and successfully launched it, destroying the Nanotech Creature.

Abilities

Tentacles

The Nanotech Creature can launch tentacles from its body to grab onto targets.

Swimming

After adapting itself to traverse water, the Nanotech Creature could now move through the water at impressive speeds.

Petroleum absorption

The Nanotech Creature can absorb petroleum.

Growth

The Nanotech Creature can grow in size very quickly after absorbing any type of refuse or oil. It could then use its size in an attempt to smother targets.

Projectile gobs

In a a video game adaptation of the series, the Nanotech Creature was able to fling small gobs of its mass as projectile weapons.

Weaknesses

In its Unadapted form, the Nanotech Creature does not like water and smaller tentacles could be shot off with over 2,000 bolts of electricity. In its Aquatic form, the creature still had a weakness to electricity fired from stun weapons. In its Powered-Up form, the creature's tentacles could easily be cut off by Godzilla's claws and parts of the creature could be blasted off by Godzilla's atomic breath. The Nanotech Creature can be petrified when infected with a computer virus, after which it can be easily destroyed.

Video games

Godzilla: The Series - Monster Wars

A Petroleum Eating Microbe Colony, or P.E.M.C., designed to consume trash went out of control and went on an incredibly damaging rampage that managed to avoid any casualties. However, Godzilla arrived to bring it down. The colony fought back with volleyed shots of its body mass, but ultimately it was outclassed by the massive reptile, and upon its defeat, the colony dispersed and was no more.

Trivia

  • The Nanotech Creature is a monster composed of an entire colony of microorganisms joined together, similar to the monsters Hedorah and Destoroyah.
    • In the novel GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse, Hedorah's role is very similar to that of the Nanotech Creature, being a colony of waste-eating microbes discovered and manipulated by scientists. Like the Nanotech Creature, Hedorah quickly went out of control and began rampaging after being unleashed, feeding on any nearby materials, in Hedorah's case pollutants, that it could.
  • The creature's creator, Dr. Felix Hoenikker, is possibly a reference to the novel Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. In the novel, a character named Felix Hoenikker invents a substance known as ice-nine which converts all water it contacts into more ice-nine. This is similar to how the Nanotech Creature consumes petrochemicals to create more of itself.
