Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe is a five-issue comic book miniseries from Marvel Comics. Written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Javier Garrón, the series sees Godzilla embark on a seemingly-unstoppable trail of destruction across the Marvel Universe, forcing superheroes and supervillains to unite in efforts to stop the King of the Monsters.^[1]

The first issue was published on July 16, 2025, two weeks after the conclusion of Godzilla vs. Marvel, and the final issue was released on November 19, 2025. Marvel will publish a trade paperback collecting the series on March 17, 2026, and launch a sequel series, Godzilla: Infinity Roar, beginning February 4.

A previously dormant Godzilla has been angrily awoken and begun carving a path of annihilation as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes band together to try and stop its cataclysmic rampage! But when their combined efforts fail to slow the Bringer of Destruction, Earth’s heroes are forced to go to extraordinary lengths to try and bring Godzilla down – including joining forces with Earth’s most devious villains! But will this be enough to stop Godzilla as it tears straight through the Marvel Universe into the Dark Dimension and other realms? Plus, how is the King of the Monsters connected to the mysterious metal, Vibranium, and what does this mean for Wakanda? In the face of an unstoppable force of nature, the Marvel Universe must come together like never before in this earth-shattering fight for Earth’s survival.^[1]

Development

The series' existence was teased in 2024 with the announcement of the Godzilla vs. Marvel series of one-shots.^[2] The series was later exclusively announced by TheWrap on April 11, 2025.^[1]

Trivia

According to writer Gerry Duggan during a Reddit AMA, the series takes place at an undetermined time on Marvel Comics' Earth-616, and its Godzilla is "the classic Showa era Godzilla".^[3]^[4]
King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Hedorah, SpaceGodzilla, and Megalon are featured on various covers, though all are absent from the series itself. Perhaps most notably, the latter two have never appeared in a Marvel Godzilla comic in any capacity, though the former three appeared in Godzilla vs. Marvel. Kumonga and Ebirah are the only Toho kaiju to appear in this series.
