Godzilla #9 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was published on April 1, 2026.[2]

Description

It’s an all-out monster attack!

Kaiju are appearing across the country and causing never-before-seen levels of damage! The only being that could keep them in check is Godzilla…or maybe Jacen…but, well, they’re both sorta preoccupied trying to get their own bodies back.

Will Godzilla’s physical form ever be resurrected? Will Jacen ever be free of the curse of Godzilla's energy? Can anyone save America from total destruction?[2]

Plot

Marco Petithomme theatrically announces the departures of Jacen Braid and Jet Jaguar, who grows to giant size, from G-Force USA headquarters. Once they've flown away, he reports to his superiors, saying that the Braid situation has changed and the implications for their people are now greater.

After conferring with Commander Riviera, Dr. Rumi Chiba reports Braid's impending arrival and that they will be dividing their forces in the face of the kaiju horde. They pit Nuki against Black Hart, Incense against Ursogar, Riviera against Styrga, and Chiba against Rodan. She promptly leaps off her perch to land on Rodan and strike its neck. In rural North Dakota, Nuki struggles with a jammed weapon, bringing it back online just in time to blast the deer kaiju. Incense is furious at his assignment, struggling to find a strong enough cell signal in the Iowa woods to stream his impending battle. He goes live just as the bear kaiju reaches him, but it easily survives his first fire blast and knocks his phone out of his hands with its brutal counterattack. Riviera quotes Hermann Melville to a pair of local fisherman before jumping off a bridge to jab Styrga in the eye. To his dismay, the fish kaiju proceeds to drag him underwater upon reaching the Mississippi River.

Using her hinaishin techniques, Chiba forces Rodan to land in an unpopulated area, but to her shock, still finds the kaiju agitated. Braid contacts her then, reporting that he and Jet Jaguar are facing Ebirah and Manda in Des Moines. Jet Jaguar appears to want Braid to stay out of the fight lest he manifest Godzilla, though Chiba is skeptical that the robot would be capable of such a judgment. After Ebirah snips off one of Jet Jaguar's arms, however, Braid is forced to intervene. He again forms Godzilla, who catches Ebirah in midair, hurls it to the ground, and blasts it with atomic breath. Manda tries to attack from behind, but Godzilla catches it by the throat without looking and fires on it as well. Floating calmly in the center of Godzilla, Braid understands what the monster wants: for Braid to fight furiously and with all its power.

With the two kaiju vanquished, Braid returns to normal and gives Jet Jaguar, now human-sized, its arm back. The robot happily reattaches it and he reaches Chiba, who is exhausted from trying to subdue a defiant Rodan. Incense, meanwhile, has opted to hide from Ursogar as it proceeds determinedly towards its destination. Nuki has succeeded in stopping Black Hart, but the kaiju stabbed her in the chest with the tip of an antler before it fell. Struggling to speak, she tells Braid she thought their meeting at the Black Lamp was a date too. Emotions surging, Braid ignores Chiba's attempts to calm him and again forms Godzilla, stepping on Jet Jaguar in the process. Rodan spreads its wings, knocking Chiba off itself. Riviera reports to her that while he managed to defeat Styrga, he did so only because the river suddenly dried up, which he finds extremely ominous.

In Graceville, May kisses a rose and remarks that it just needed some proper soil to grow. With the garden in full flower, she declares that it's time for her coronation.
