Angela. Harry. I hope you understand this doesn't change anything about how I feel about the two of you. You were kind to me, even without knowing who I was. What I was. It's why I protected you from those who would hurt you. It's why I refuse to hurt you now. But you have to understand... the time has finally come. I've finally found my voice. I have fully blossomed into Biollante.

May is the main antagonist of the second story arc of IDW Publishing's 2025 ongoing comic series Godzilla, Energy Unleashed. Infected by the energies radiating from the Deadzone as an infant, she was taken in by G-Force USA as part of Project BIO-LON 2 to create a new generation of G-Mutant soldiers. However, she instead transformed into the powerful kaiju Biollante, and would later trigger a monster stampede across the United States to destroy Godzilla and become "Queen of the Monsters".
Personality
May initially comes across as a shy and quiet individual, but in truth she hides a more ruthless side, and was deemed too cunning and dangerous by G-Force to contain. She considers herself the "Queen of the Monsters", with lofty plans to rule over the other kaiju once she finally disposes of Godzilla. Despite her sinister goals, she still shows compassion to others such as her adoptive parents Angela and Harry, going out of her way to protect their farm from a group of bandits and unwilling to harm them even after they find out the truth about her. She also appeared to show a sense of understanding with Jacen Braid, the two confiding with the other about their shared pasts despite their direct opposition. However, this appeared to have been a manipulation tactic to weaken Godzilla, and she quickly threatened Jacen once he and Godzilla began to refocus.

Godzilla
Issue #6
As Dr. Rumi Chiba talked about the "sins of the past" and the "sins of tomorrow", an image of May was shown.
Issue #7
May wandered through a farm field of Graceville, Minnesota, startling her adoptive father Harry while he picking corn. He led her back to the barn. The following night, May woke her parents with a scream and pointed out to the dark fields around the barn, to their confusion. Unbeknownst to them, bandits had arrived to raid the premises. However, no attack came, and by the morning May was silently eating breakfast with her adoptive mother Angela. However, Harry quickly informed Angela to meet him outside as the two discovered what had become of their unknown assailants. To their horror, they saw the mutilated bodies of the bandits that planned to raid their barn out in the field, tangled up in thorny vines and toothy roses. Back inside, May uttered her first word: "Biollante".
Issue #8
As May watched the latest TV report on Godzilla, Harry and Angela buried the bodies of the bandits and began discussing whether May had something to do with their slaying. Angela was initially hesitant to accept this, but Harry explained further. Recounting the time they found May lying in the only healthy patch of growth amongst a corn field they were going to torch, Harry mentioned that a few days prior to taking May in, he found a pit of thorns close by. They originally assumed their May had been a blessing from heaven, but now questioned if their "angel" could instead be an emissary from hell. It was then that May appeared behind the two with vines at her back. Trapping them within the barn, May went on to explain that she refused to hurt them even now, as they had been kind to her in the time she had spent with them. This would not, however, dissuade her from her ultimate goal. Having found her voice as Biollante and having heard of Godzilla's continued survival, she planned to permanently eliminate the former kaiju monarch and take her place as the Queen of the Monsters. In synchrony with her speech, her pheromone message had spread far and wide across the winds of the world, calling in the kaiju Ebirah, Manda, Rodan, Styrga, Ursogar, and Black Hart to join her new army.
Issue #9
After his battle with Styrga, Commander Riviera notified Dr. Rumi Chiba that he only defeated the kaiju because the water table had dropped so steeply that it had run aground on the newly exposed banks. This would imply that a huge volume of water had been drained from the tributary and diverted elsewhere. This was seemingly the work of May, having watered the soil around the barn to make her garden of thorny roses bloom to their fullest. With her garden properly tended, she determined it was finally time for her coronation.
Issue #10
As Godzilla and G-Force arrived at her barn, May initiated her grand plan. Calling Rodan off from its battle with Godzilla, she stepped out to challenge the King of the Monsters for the kaiju throne.
Issue #11

May transformed into the kaiju Biollante and began battling with Godzilla. Despite her power, she was unable to physically harm Godzilla due to his Kai-Sei energy form. To counter this, she confronted Jacen Braid in the mental "Kai-Sei Space", introducing herself and invited Jacen to her memories from the Yuma Medical Center. Jacen was hesitant, but ultimately decided to follow. May would explain she and her twin sister had been born on the southern edge of the Deadzone, their parents haven surrendered them from the hospital due to discovering their cells shifted between animal and plant. While her twin sister did not survive, May got a second chance when General Daniel Onishi and geneticist Jocelyn Braid took her as part of project BIO-LON 2, which had the intended end goal of creating a new generation of G-Mutants to serve under G-Force. Jacen was shocked at her mother's part in all this and G-Force's true motives, and May came to his consolation telling him he's not alone. In the physical world however, the distraction of this memory trip had allowed May's Biollante form to get the edge on Godzilla, constricting him with her vines and causing Jacen to scream in pain.
Issue #12
While Biollante continued to overpower Godzilla and Jacen in the physical world, May continued to preoccupy Jacen with more memories of their past. A scene of the two of them when they were much younger played on in the mindscape, with Onishi taking the young May to get some hot dogs much to her eagerness. Jacen commented how surprised he was was to see the general treat May like a daughter. May concurred this was the case, but added Onishi would soon see her as just another weapon, one that would soon become too dangerous. Jacen consoled May, and the two would uncover another memory about how the former came to be. They saw Jacen's parents, Jocelyn and Garrett discuss that thanks to Onishi's funding, they now had acquired the key to not only save them, but the world as a whole: G-Mutant One, also known as the Wanderer. The revelation dawned on May and Jacen that G-Mutant One had been used to create the two of them, with May going as far as to call him "our real father". May proclaimed this was great news, proposing that she and Jacen go to the Deadzone from which the Wanderer originated, leaving G-Force behind. Jacen nearly accepted her offer, but with Dr. Chiba's help, Nuki was able to infiltrate the Kai-Sei Space and convince Jacen that May was manipulating him to finally end Godzilla. May furiously tries to regain control of the situation, threatening that she could still hurt Jacen and Nuki in the real world, but her Biollante form is quickly destroyed by Godzilla's atomic breath. May attempted to regenerate her form, but due to Incense, Riviera, Marco Petithomme, and Onishi having released barrels of De-Freaker pesticide into the ground water she had been collecting from, the concoction of poison slowly began to kill her. Onishi confronted her for the actions she took, with May uttering in her final words everything she had done was to make him proud. With that, her body disintegrated into flowers and foliage.
Abilities
Shapeshifting
May is capable of transforming into Biollantress.
Plant life manipulation
May is capable of summoning monstrous vines and flytrap-like roses to attack or restrain people. She used these to great effect when several bandits planned a raid on her parent's farm, only to be swiftly and violently killed. She can also use these plants to draw in great quantities of water from far afield, as evidenced when she drained a great volume from a tributary along the Mississippi River. In her Biollantress form, she is capable of sprouting humanoid plant monsters to battle any potential threats, like G-Force.
Pollen control
May is able to manipulate kaiju via pollen released from the plants she produces, drawing them to her and doing her bidding. The allure is so strong that even kaiju that are seriously hampered or wounded will continue to follow her commands. Even after Dr. Rumi Chiba wore down Rodan with her pressure point and psychic attacks, the kaiju was still compelled to travel towards May, and a paralyzed Anguirus and scorched Ebirah still attempted to continue their journey despite their grievous injuries. May was also able to call Rodan off from its battle with Godzilla and Jacen Braid.
Telepathic Resistance
May's mind is resistant to telepathy, as demonstrated when Dr. Rumi Chiba attempted to engage psychic contact with her only to be blocked from doing so.
Corpse Reanimation
May is able to manipulate plant life to take over the corpses of fallen kaiju to fight her enemies, as she did with Ursogar's scorched remains to put a stop to Riviera, Incense, Marco Petithomme, and Daniel Onishi.
Trivia
- The "Queen of the Monsters" title that May adopts is an epithet usually reserved to describe Mothra, who has yet to appear in the Kai-Sei Era.
- The rose that covers May's right eye recalls Biollante Asuka from P Godzilla vs. Evangelion: Second Impact G who, after being infected by Biollante's cells, grew a rose over her left eye.
