Ebirah, Horror of the Deep
Ryui was a captain in the terrorist organization known as the Red Bamboo, operating on Letchi Island. When a ship transporting slaves from Infant Island arrived on Letchi Island, Ryui personally oversaw the transfer of the slaves. Several of the natives attempted to escape, and Ryui ordered a machine gunner to fire at them. Two islanders who were not killed by gunfire managed to get into a canoe and try to escape, while Ryui ordered the gunner to hold his fire, assuring them that Ebirah would deal with the escapees. As Ryui predicted, the giant lobster Ebirah emerged from the water, destroying the canoe and impaling the islanders on his claw before dragging them under the waves. Afterward, Ryui was contacted by the Red Bamboo Commander, who informed him that one of the slaves, Dayo, had escaped in the confusion. Ryui and his men searched the island for Dayo and a group of four men who had washed up on the island after their yacht was destroyed by Ebirah, but lost them when they hid in a cave. When Dayo and the men later infiltrated the Red Bamboo's base, they found Ryui and his men waiting for them. The group used a smoke bomb to try and escape, but Ryui ordered his men to chase them. When the group awakened Godzilla, who was sleeping in a cave, to stop the Red Bamboo, Ryui and the other Red Bamboo officers armed the nuclear reactor in their base to explode and destroy the island, then attempted to escape in a ship. Unbeknownst to Ryui and the Red Bamboo, the Infant Islander slaves had replaced the yellow liquid released by the Red Bamboo's ships to fend off Ebirah with a false liquid. Before the ship could get far from the island, Ebirah rose from the sea and destroyed it, killing Ryui and the Red Bamboo Commander.
