The Shobijin (小美人 are tiny twin priestesses of Shōbijin, lit. "little beauties")Mothra who appeared in the 2004 film Godzilla Final Wars.
The Shobijin appeared to a group of Earth Defense Force personnel who discovered the mummified body of Gigan, an evil space monster Mothra had fought against long ago. They gave the group a sacred dagger that Miyuki Otonashi later used to free Shinichi Ozaki from the mental domination of the Controller of Planet X.
Name
"Shobijin" is a direct romanization of the Japanese term 小美人 (Shōbijin), meaning "little beauties."
Personality
As with most versions of the characters, the Shobijin are very hopeful beings, as demonstrated when they assured Ozaki that he was still capable of choosing his own path despite housing "wicked" Xilien DNA.
History
- Godzilla Final Wars (2004)
Millennium era
Godzilla Final Wars
While researching the mummified corpse of an unknown cyborg kaiju, mutant Shinichi Ozaki, biologist Miyuki Otonashi, and paleontologist Hachiro Jinguji discovered photographs from Infant Island depicting an ancient cave mural of what appeared to be the monster in question. At that exact moment, the trio inexplicably found themselves teleported to the island itself and were greeted by two tiny fairies - the Shobijin. They identified the monster as Gigan and explained that it arrived on Earth 12,000 years ago before being stopped by Mothra. The Shobijin then warned Ozaki that, as a mutant, he had the same wicked alien blood as Gigan flowing through his veins, though he still had the power to chose his own destiny. After assuring the group that Mothra would assist those who did not turn against the Earth, they transported the trio back to the lab with Gigan's body, leaving Ozaki with a sacred dagger.
Following a costly war in which Godzilla fought against an army of Earth's kaiju under the control of the Xiliens, the Shobijin awakened Mothra and sent her to assist Godzilla. Mothra ultimately went on to give her life in battle against the revived Gigan, while their dagger proved instrumental in freeing Ozaki from the influence of the Controller of Planet X.
Abilities
Telepathy
Like most versions of Mothra's priestesses, the Shobijin share a telepathic bond with each other and Mothra. They can also speak to others through their minds.
Teleportation
The Shobijin teleported three humans to Infant Island. They can also teleport themselves, as they appeared before the trio in a flash of light.

Godzilla Defense Force
In the face of a great Xilien invasion, various incarnations of Mothra's fairies appear as unlockable allies who can join forces with the player and the Earth Defense Force against the Xiliens' monsters. This includes the 2004 incarnation of the Shobijin alongside the Cosmos, the Elias, and various other versions of the Shobijin.

Trivia
- Despite being played by the same actresses and wearing similar outfits, this incarnation of the Shobijin is unrelated to the incarnation that appeared in Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, as the films are set in different continuities.
- Photographs of the original Shobijin (using images from 1964's Mothra vs. Godzilla) appear in a historical record, though unlike Godzilla: Tokyo SOS the relationship that this incarnation of the Shobijin has with them, if any, is unclear.
- Additional footage of the Shobijin smiling as Mothra returns to Infant Island is shown during the film's credits, though it is unclear if Mothra's survival and return to the island is intended to be canon.
