Ichiro "Ichi" Sakai (酒井市郎 Sakai Ichirō) is a fictional journalist working for the Maino Times newspaper, who serves as a protagonist in the 1964 Godzilla crossover film Mothra vs. Godzilla.

Mothra vs. Godzilla
While reporting on a recent flood in the Japanese countryside with Junko Nakanishi, they werer called away to investigate an enormous egg that had come ashore in the flood. When there, he met Shunsuke Miura, who at first wanted nothing do do with him, but quickly warmed up to answering a few questions. They were quickly approached by a businessman who told them that he owned the egg, and the continued the interview at a hotel lobby, where they noticed the businessman checking in. Ichiro then listened to his conversation with a client, and eventually opened the door when he heard them mention thieves. He was immediately forced to leave, and in the surrounding forest he met up with his companions and they were approached by the Shobijin. The fairies begged Ichiro and his friends to get the egg back to Mothra, and Ichiro began to write stories about the injustice of the egg's purchase. Much to the dismay of all parties involved in the deal, his stories had no effect on the situation, and the Shobijin returned to Infant Island empty handed. Around that time, laboratory results from Miura came in about a piece of strange shrapnel they found in the floodplain: it was radioactive. The three then went back to the floodplain to take more tests, but Godzilla rose out of the ground and cut their tests short. The three then traveled to Infant Island to get Mothra's help in defeating Godzilla to keep the egg, and the people of Japan safe. When the Infant Islanders initially refused their plea, Mothra herself decided to come to Japan's aid and defeat Godzilla. After Godzilla killed the adult Mothra, the trio became aware that a teacher and ten students were trapped on an island Godzilla was approaching. They sailed out to rescue them as the Mothra larva twins defeated Godzilla. After their victory they returned to Infant Island while Ichiro and the others waved goodbye.
