M101 (M (エム)101,   Emu Ichi Maru Ichi) and M102 (M (エム)102,   Emu Ichi Maru Ni) are 23rd-century androids who accompany the Futurians in the 1991 Godzilla film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.

Development

M101 and M102 were played by twin brothers Michael and Mark Foucannon, respectively.[1] They were non-identical in Ryu Hariken's storyboards, with one having bright green hair and yellow facial ornaments, and the other dark green hair.[2]

Design

M101 and M102 resemble blond, white human men. They wear matching gray Henley shirts, khaki pants, black headsets, and black sneakers with neon orange laces. However, they are distinguishable by the gray half-vests with quilted pauldrons that they wear on different halves of their body (secured by black straps which extend across their chest and under their opposite arm) and the watches that they wear on different wrists; M101 wears both on his left side, and M102 on his right.

Personality

M101 and M102 never showed any emotion, remaining blank-faced even as they were fought and destroyed. However, M102 appears distressed by the sight of Godzilla in Rippu Shobo's Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah manga.

History

Heisei era

Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

As Kenichiro Terasawa, Hironori Mazaki, Miki Saegusa, Ryuzo Dobashi, and Takehito Fujio met with the Futurians on MOTHER, M101 and M102 tended to the ship, typing on their keyboards. They continued toiling away when Terasawa and the others returned from 1944, when Emmy Kano confronted Wilson and Glenchico about their use of King Ghidorah, when M11 dragged Emmy back to MOTHER, when Wilson and Glenchico observed Ghidorah's dogfight, and when Wilson ordered that Ghidorah be sent to fight Godzilla. They finally emerged from their seats when Emmy and Terasawa raided MOTHER, pushing Terasawa to the ground and holding him still for Glenchico to shoot him. However, M11 arrived in time to fell Glenchico and grab the androids off of Terasawa, punching them into the wall. He then grabbed one in each hand and lifted them off of their feet before throwing them back down again. After sparking and convulsing, the androids laid motionless.

Abilities

Physical abilities

A combined push from M101 and M102 sent Terasawa flying, his momentum continuing into a backwards roll upon hitting the ground. They then restrained him as Glenchico trained a blaster on him.

Durability and weaknesses

M101 was unfazed by Terasawa kicking his thigh, which hurt Terasawa's foot instead. However, the twins were outmatched by M11, who pushed and picked them up with ease. Their circuitry was destroyed when they were tossed to the ground.

Comics

Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (Rippu Shobo)

M102 observed Godzilla rise from the sea on his monitor. In the next panel, an android with a pauldron on his left shoulder (matching M101 instead) could be seen sat behind a monitor.

Books

Novel: Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

During Emmy and Terasawa's raid on MOTHER, "two android soldiers" holding guns rushed to Glenchico's aid as he wrestled with Terasawa, but they were shot in the back by an arriving M11.
