Professor Hideto Miyajima (宮島秀人,   Miyajima Hideto) is a protagonist in the 1974 Godzilla film, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. He is the character who identifies that Mechagodzilla is not of earthly origin.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla

Professor Miyajima is a professor/independent scientist in an unknown field of research. He identifies the samples of metal brought in by the Shimizu brothers as Space Titanium, and seeks the cave that Masahiko Shimizu discovered his sample in, but they are captured and taken prisoner by Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens. He is then forced to make repairs on the damaged Mechagodzilla. when he is finished with the repairs he is imprisoned alongside his daughter and Masahiko Shimizu, and they are gassed, but they are then rescued by Agent Nanbara and Keisuke Shimizu. Nanbara, Keisuke, The Professor, and Masahiko then return to the base in order to destroy Mechagodzilla's control console with his ion Pipe.

Ion Pipe

The Ion Pipe is an smoking pipe created by Professor Miyajima. when the bowl is separated from the mouthpiece and the threaded parts of each piece are facing each other, all positive and negative ions in between them are destroyed.
