Ursogar is a bear kaiju who appears in the second story arc of the 2025 IDW Publishing ongoing series Godzilla, Energy Unleashed.
Name
Ursogar's name is likely derived from the genus Ursus, which translates to "bear" in Latin.
Design
Ursogar greatly resembles a bear in overall appearance. Its face sports a distinctive mask-like covering that consists of a pair of horns projecting over its glowing red eyes and a pair of bony flanges pointing downwards. Most of its body is covered in brown fur, but it also possesses several large spikes running down its back, while its lower arms are covered in armor-like scales.

Ursogar was one of many kaiju that May awakened to enact her plan of causing a monster stampede across the United States, emerging in Chicago.
Issue #9
Ursogar engaged in combat with G-Force soldier Incense as it made its way through the forests of Iowa. At first, the human appeared to land a decisive first blow against Ursogar by setting the kaiju on fire, but this simply confused the giant bear before it swiftly began to pummel Incense. After the brief battle, Incense made a hasty retreat, while Ursogar continued its journey undeterred.
Issue #10
Incense eventually caught up with Ursogar, clinging onto one of the bear's teeth as the kaiju reached Graceville, Minnesota. There, it and Rodan bowed in anticipation for the arrival of their new kaiju monarch, May, but Kai-Sei Energy Godzilla and Jacen Braid arrived sooner. The two kaiju battled the King of the Monsters, with Ursogar matching it blow for blow and even managing to damage its opponent. The advantage was short-lived, however: Godzilla disoriented Ursogar with a tail-whip, sending the ursine to the ground, before finishing it off with its atomic breath, incinerating the bear kaiju down to the bone and leaving its remains burning.
Abilities
Physical abilities
As a kaiju, Ursogar possesses immense physical strength. In its brief battle with Kai-Sei Energy Godzilla, the bear kaiju bit into the reptilian's right leg and managed to tear off the limb with a flick of its head, sending Godzilla tumbling to the ground. After the injury, Jacen Braid stated that he felt the same pain Godzilla did and attributed Ursogar's ability to damage Godzilla to Dr. Rumi Chiba briefly making psychic contact with them. Ursogar proceeded to slash Godzilla across the face with its claws before being halted by a tail-whip.
Durability
Ursogar possesses an enhanced level of durability, being able to shrug off the intense heat of Incense's fire attacks without so much as sizzled hair. During its brief fight with Godzilla, Ursogar was sent sprawling to the ground after being tail-whipped, drawing blood from the bear kaiju.
Weaknesses
Ursogar was not strong enough to survive the immense heat of Godzilla's Kai-Sei empowered atomic breath, being reduced to a smoldering skeleton immediately afterwards.

Trivia
- Out of the three kaiju original to the Kai-Sei Era introduced in Godzilla #8, the other two being Styrga and Black Hart, Ursogar is the only one to encounter other kaiju, allying with Rodan and fighting Godzilla.
