Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira), better known by his form Burning Millennium Godzilla (バーニングミレニアムゴジラ Bāningu Mireniamu Gojira), is a kaiju who stars in the Fest Godzilla II series of short films by Kazuhiro Nakagawa, debuting in its first entry from 2025, Fest Godzilla II: Shinjuku Burning.
Godzilla rose from Tokyo Bay and attacked the city of Shinjuku. As he battled against the JSDF, his body temperature rose rapidly, eventually turning him into Burning Millennium Godzilla. However, his rampage was paused by the appearance of Monster X, to whom he roared a challenge; the cliffhanger is planned to be resolved in Fest Godzilla II: Tokyo Vanishing in 2026. Burning Millennium Godzilla also appears in the multiversal web series Godziburst, where he participated as a fighter in the Cyberduelverse and later teamed with five other Godzillas against the evil King Destoroyah.

Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ), comes from a combination of the Japanese approximation of "gorilla" (ゴリラ gorira) and the Japanese word for "whale" (クジラ kujira).
The Burning form this Godzilla takes on is officially known as Burning Millennium Godzilla (バーニングミレニアムゴジラ Bāningu Mireniamu Gojira), with "Millennium Godzilla" being a name for the Godzilla who originated his design. Upon seeing this form, Fuku Suzuki's character in Fest Godzilla II: Shinjuku Burning remarks Godzilla is a "red dragon" (赤い龍 akai ryū); the same descriptor was used for the original Burning Godzilla by a Chinese copilot at the beginning of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
Development
Godzilla was portrayed in Fest Godzilla II: Shinjuku Burning by a modified promotional suit of the 1999 Godzilla originally built in 2015 by Shinichi Wakasa and his studio MONSTERS, Inc., who also oversaw its modification. To visualize Burning Millennium Godzilla, Wakasa had Bandai specially cast a Movie Monster Series Millennium Godzilla ver. 2.0 figure for him in translucent orange, which he then painted over and used as a maquette.[3] The suit was given a new head[4] with LEDs in the mouth covered by transparent urethane pieces to allow them to shine through.[5] A chest piece containing LEDs was also built for the Burning form.[6] The rest of Godzilla's burning patches, such as on his legs, were added with CGI.[1] A second, disembodied head piece mounted on a pole—possibly the suit's original head which was replaced—was used on set.[7] Additionally, a large model of Godzilla's lower leg and foot was used for the shot of him stomping the subway station; Wakasa speculated this was the same model built for the Nemuro tunnel sequence in Godzilla 2000: Millennium which had been kept in storage at Toho Eizo Bijutsu.[8]
For Fest Godzilla II: Tokyo Vanishing, a new Burning Millennium Godzilla suit is planned to be built from scratch to maximize its lighting functions.[1]
As with all kaiju in the series, Burning Millennium Godzilla is portrayed in Godziburst by a manipulated Bandai Godziburst figure.
Design
This Godzilla is virtually identical to the ones from Godzilla 2000: Millennium and Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, complete with their trademark green skin and purple dorsal fins. Burning Millennium Godzilla gains glowing orange patches of heat on his chest, groin, thighs, and shoulders, reminiscent of Burning Godzilla from Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. His fins, eyes, and the inside of his mouth also glow orange.
Personality
Godzilla is portrayed as a destructive force of nature opposing humanity. He did, however, display some curiosity when he came across the Godzilla Head.

Fest Godzilla II: Shinjuku Burning

Godzilla emerged from Tokyo Bay and attacked the Shinjuku ward, forcing an emergency evacuation. As two JSDF soldiers finished scouring a subway station for civilians, they briefed one another that Godzilla's temperature was rising. As they evacuated from the station, Godzilla's foot breached the concrete, causing the station to collapse. As Godzilla continued his rampage deeper into the city, a squadron of helicopters opened fire with machine gun shells and missiles.
Godzilla's spines flashed blue as he retaliated with his atomic breath, only for him to stagger as a second barrage of missiles struck the side of his neck. Irritated, Godzilla chased one of the helicopters through the Kabukicho district, toppling buildings that were in his path as his body temperature rose to 490°C. The monster then fired another blast of his atomic breath, now tinged with orange, but the helicopter evaded the attack. Godzilla suddenly stopped in front of the Shinjuku Toho Building and examined a sculpture of his head with curiosity.
As Godzilla was distracted, a lone helicopter opened fire on the monster with a machine gun. Godzilla began to charge a third blast of his atomic breath, the energy from his dorsal spines flickering orange. As he fired, the beam transitioned from blue to orange and destroyed the helicopter. Another helicopter opened fire with a missile barrage, knocking the monster king over and creating a smoke cloud that obscured the area.
As the helicopter pilot attempted to report, an orange light was seen through the smoke as Godzilla's temperature rapidly rose over 800°C. Before the pilot could react, a powerful, orange spiral heat ray blasted through the smoke, destroying the helicopter and a majority of the surrounding area. Godzilla rose to his feet as the smoke cleared, now with yellow-orange patches throughout his body, becoming Burning Millennium Godzilla. As a lone soldier stared at the monster in awe, his attention was pulled away by the arrival of a new monster, shrouded in smoke and lights.
Godzilla stared the unknown monster down and roared a challenge.
Godziburst
"Kaiju Fire Safety!"

Burning Millennium Godzilla and Type-3 Kiryu (Firefighter Mode) were teleported to the Cyberduelverse arena as a new battle was about to start. The fiery monster's presence caused everything around him to burn, which alarmed Kiryu. The two clashed and Burning Millennium Godzilla overpowered the cyborg. Kiryu used his Burst Move, the Area Wide Waterfall, and launched cloud-seeding rockets into the sky, manifesting rainclouds and causing rainfall. Burning Godzilla's flames were extinguished, which caused the monster to lose interest in the fight and simply walk away gloomily. He was then teleported from the arena, and Kiryu shut down after finishing his duty, ending the battle in a draw.
"Super Dragon Monster Attacks!"
After winning the match against Gigan and Gatling Gigan, King Ghidorah went on a rampage in the Cyberduelverse arena. SY-3 feared the dragon would destroy the Cyberduelverse if not stopped. Burning Millennium Godzilla, Ice Mothra and Rodan (Heisei) with the Maser Unit were summoned to the scene, ready to take on the three-headed monster.
"Greatest Battle in the Cyberduelverse"
Burning Millennium Godzilla clashed with King Ghidorah while Ice Mothra and the Maser Unit-equipped Rodan fired from a distance. The dragon withstood the attacks and targeted all three of his opponents with gravity beams. Suddenly, Godzilla (1991) and his son, LittleGodzilla, were also teleported to the arena. The newly arrived King of the Monsters turned into Blizzard Godzilla and teamed up with his "brother", Burning Millennium Godzilla. The two combined their Burst Moves, freezing everything on one side of the arena and setting ablaze everything else on the other. King Ghidorah was now being attacked by every other kaiju present, first being encased in ice and then set on fire immediately after. He managed to flee and teleported off the arena. SY-3 thanked the heroic monsters for saving the Cyberduelverse before they all went their separate ways.
"The King Who Rends the Dark"

After being severely overpowered by King Destoroyah, Thunder Godzilla managed to get back on his feet and charged up. He fired his Lightning Ray into the sky, which caused lightning bolts to strike down right behind him. Portals appeared right where the lightning had struck, and from them emerged five monsters to Thunder Godzilla's aid: the 1954, 1991, 2004, 2016, and Burning Millennium Godzillas. With the Godzillas lined up and ready to aid their "brother" against the powers of darkness, they charged up and fired their beams at the enemy. King Destoroyah withstood the attack until Thunder Godzilla joined in with his Lightning Ray and the combined beams managed to pierce through both Destoroyah and his throne, blowing the king of darkness into pieces and finally putting an end to the war he had declared. The victorious Godzillas roared in unison and SY-3 thanked them for their aid.
Abilities
Physical abilities
Like previous incarnations of the character, this Godzilla has exceptional physical strength. He can tear through and topple buildings with his claws and crush subway stations with a single step.
Atomic breath
Godzilla can fire a beam of atomic energy from his mouth. Unlike the incarnations in Godzilla 2000: Millennium and Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, this Godzilla's atomic breath is blue. The full power of his atomic breath is unknown, but it can destroy helicopters and blast through buildings. As Godzilla's temperature rose, his atomic breath gained tinges of orange.
In Godziburst, his Burst Move is called the Bright Blaze Ray (ブライトブレイズレイ Buraito Bureizu Rei). It is a powered-up version of his regular atomic breath that was able to set King Ghidorah on fire.
Spiral atomic breath
After Godzilla's transformation into Burning Godzilla, his atomic breath increases in power. It is shown to be powerful enough to blast through buildings, wipe out multiple city blocks, and cause chains of explosions upon impact.
Body temperature

In Godziburst, Burning Millennium Godzilla's mere presence was enough to set everything around him ablaze.
Amphibiousness
Though Godzilla is not seen swimming onscreen, according to the description of Shinjuku Burning's YouTube upload, he emerged from Tokyo Bay.[2]
Durability
Like most incarnations, Godzilla is immune to conventional weaponry. However, although bullets and missiles didn't cause him visible damage, Godzilla was staggered and knocked down from multiple missile barrages.
