Godzilla #7 is a comic book from IDW Publishing which begins its series' second story arc, Energy Unleashed. It was published on February 4, 2026.[1]

Description

A new story arc starts here! G-Force has one mission: Eliminate Godzilla and the rest of the kaiju threat. After discovering Jacen, the boy with the fire of Godzilla, they knew they had an ace up their sleeve—and they pitted the two forces of nature against one another.

Where Jacen and Godzilla once stood, there is now only Jacen. G-Force has ushered in a new era of global peace, and the world is eternally thankful. Godzilla…is seemingly no more.

But there’s a fire raging inside of Jacen. He sees the beast inside of his mind. Is it possible…this is all part of a larger plan? Is it possible…that Godzilla will return? As something new…something bigger? Something…entirely more powerful?

Find out what has become of the King of the Monsters in this brand-new story arc, featuring art by superstar artist Hendry Prasetya (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto) and series writer Tim Seeley![1]

Plot

In the rural town of Graceville, Minnesota, the farmer Harry kisses his wife Angela before picking corn, the plants having grown unnaturally large due to residual Kai-Sei energy. He is surprised to find May, a scarred and seemingly mute girl they have taken in, out in the field as well.

Nikki Chin of E-Merica News reports on Godzilla's demise in Las Vegas at the hands of G-Force USA's Jacen Braid. The G-Force Japan team makes a rare public appearance to coolly congratulate their American counterparts, focusing on the contributions of the Japanese-built Jet Jaguar. The robot itself watches as his creator's brother extends his thanks as well. Commander Riviera, also watching the broadcast, guffaws at how Dr. Rumi Chiba's former teammates avoided mentioning her at all, much to her consternation. Riviera tells her that despite the many disagreements they've had since she joined his team, she's an asset to them and was correct to train Braid in the disciplined way that she did. She admits in return that destroying Godzilla seems to have made the world a better place, as he predicted. He offers to break out a guitar in celebration of their rare unity; she quickly declines.

Marco Petithomme finds Braid and peppers him with questions about defeating Godzilla and his conflicted feelings about discovering Lament was his mother. The teen's primary concern, however, is his impending meetup with Nuki, which Petithomme confirms is in fact a date. Braid reassures Petithomme that he considers his mother dead and G-Force to be his family now; as soon as he leaves, however, the scientist reports to his superiors that Braid's triumph should worry them all. In Graceville, May awakens in the night with a scream and points outside, where bandits have gathered.

Braid gets into the Black Lamp Bar for free for killing Godzilla and meets Nuki. He's disarmed by seeing her without her usual weaponry for the first time and admits that he's never been on a date before. Incense soon greets them and the concert begins. Seeing Nuki dancing, Incense's arm around her waist, Braid's eyes glow green and he suddenly experiences a vision of a green Godzilla terrorizing a city. When he returns to reality, Nuki points out that he's glowing and floating. Before they can attempt to understand what's happened, however, Incense receives word of an Anguirus attack. G-Force USA assembles to confront the monster, who Chiba senses is disoriented since they destroyed its tunnels fighting Godzilla. To her surprise, Riviera orders the team to nonlethally drive it out to sea. Braid knocks it into the air with lances of Kai-Sei energy, followed by Jet Jaguar delivering a punch and Nuki and Incense unloading their weapons. Rolling into a ball, its Thunderball form, Anguirus knocks over Jet Jaguar. Before it can reach Nuki, Braid tackles her out of the way, but is seemingly crushed himself. A massive blast of energy catches Anguirus off-guard; from there, Braid, at the center of a ghostly green Godzilla easily dispatches his foe.

The next morning, Harry finds the bandits all slain outside by monstrous tendrils, some of them ending in huge fanged roses. May speaks her first word: "Biollante".
