Description

LEGENDARY'S MONSTERVERSE DEVASTATES THE DC UNIVERSE! Superman and Godzilla have gone head-to-head with devastating consequences in Metropolis as the Justice League scrambles to protect their homes from the monstersSupergirl encounters Kong on Skull Island and Wonder Woman takes on Behemoth on Themyscira! Lost in the monster mayhem, though, are Lex Luthor and his Legion of Doom... what nefarious connection do they have to everything?[1]

Plot

In Central City, the Flash arrives at Iron Heights Prison and beholds Scylla as he laments how he thought he'd seen everything in his career. As he attempts to head towards the Titan, a toxic fog slows him down him enough for a group of escaped villains to pummel him. Supergirl intervenes with her super-breath, dispersing the fog as Flash wrangles the convicts. Supergirl and Green Lantern prepare to battle Scylla, only for the former to realize Superman's heart has stopped, prompting her to rush to her cousin's side.

Back in Metropolis, Godzilla looms over Billy Batson and a seemingly-lifeless Superman before being tackled by Atom Smasher. However, Godzilla swats him away with his tail before snapping Atom Smasher's neck in his jaws. Enraged, Billy tells Hawkgirl he'll keep Godzilla busy as he transforms back into Shazam, shocking him with a lightning bolt and uppercutting him in tandem with Supergirl. Hawkgirl confirms the worst as Supergirl tells her to take Superman's body to the Fortress of Solitude while she takes care of Godzilla, only to see Shazam luring him back into the ocean. Cyborg contacts them about the worsening situation in Central City and asks if any Leaguers can assist as Supergirl leaves. Flash and Green Lantern banter as the latter defends against Scylla and the former takes down the Golden Glider, earning the wrath of her brother Captain Cold, who has just arrived with Black Manta and the Cheetah. As Cold freezes Flash, Black Manta reveals to Cheetah that he contracted Deathstroke to find the Toyman while they use the distraction of the Titans to add to their ranks.

Meanwhile, in Themyscira, Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl figure out a plan to deal with Behemoth. Tying their Lassos of Truth and Persuasion to a ballista bolt, they ride it to Behemoth and use their lassos to try and "talk" to him. Although they are initially successful in pacifying him, Behemoth's agitation is redirected and he shakes off the Amazons before leaving, with Wonder Woman saying something is "calling" him.

As Green Lantern is caught in Scylla's tentacles, Flash bursts out of his icy prison and, after seeing the Legion of Doom members get away, uses his hand tornadoes in concert with Supergirl's heat vision and Green Lantern's ring to drive the Titan back into the ocean. Supergirl tells Lantern that Superman may be gone for good as Hawkgirl carries Superman's body into the night. On Skull Island, Green Arrow contacts Cyborg for assistance as Kong fights a Warbat, causing two giant rhinos to stampede. Green Arrow escapes the stampede by grappling to a tree as Kong kills the Warbat, shaking him out of the tree and onto the ground. As Kong looms over Green Arrow, Supergirl arrives and tells the giant ape to stand away from him and that she means no harm. Kong tries to grab her, only for Supergirl to punch him in the face. Before Kong can retaliate, he hears a noise that begins irritating him.

In Gotham City, Batman and Batwoman confirm that their heart-rate dampening device is keeping Camazotz sedated, with Black Canary asking where the Titans came from and why they're rampaging in their cities. Cyborg explains that Godzilla, Scylla, and Behemoth have retreated in response to a high-frequency beacon and he's triangulating the source to somewhere in the southeast. Shazam arrives and sadly tells them that Superman is dead. A distraught Batman, in denial over his friend's death, orders his allies not to tell Lois Lane until he sees Superman for himself. Meanwhile, in the Chihuahuan Desert, Lex Luthor comes across a massive metallic eye.

Trivia

  • Green Lantern and Cyborg both liken Scylla to Cthulhu.
  • Kong trying to grab Supergirl is likely a callback to his other incarnations' attraction toward blonde women.
