"Scary Stories of Monster Island" (怪獣島のこわい話,   Kaijūtō no Kowai Hanashi) is the 33rd episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the 20th of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on August 14, 2024. An English-subtitled version followed on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel that August 16, only two days later compared to the English version's typical release date of one week after the Japanese version.

Plot

Chibi Godzilla sits in front of a candle, announcing in a deep voice that it's the time of year he and his friends gather to tell scary stories. When Chibi Mechagodzilla asks why he said it so weirdly, Chibi Godzilla repeats in his normal voice. Chibi Minilla objects to participating, but Chibi Godzilla tells her she'll be cursed if she runs away, scaring her into staying after Chibi Mechagodzilla indirectly confirms it. As Chibi Minilla cries, Chibi Godzilla tells his brief story, finishing it by bluntly stating "something scary happened". Chibi Mechagodzilla admonishes him for his poor storytelling skills, but Chibi Godzilla dismisses his complaints by pointing to the completely blank-faced Chibi Minilla, who suddenly starts sweating and says it was so scary she blacked out. Chibi Ghidorah goes next, beginning with some exposition about yokai being spotted near Monster Island, though Chibi Mechagodzilla's hopes of a good story are squashed when Chibi Ghidorah finishes by saying they have three eyes, to which Mechagodzilla points out he has three heads. Chibi Minilla becomes so scared that she breaks the fourth wall and hides offscreen, confusing Chibi Mechagodzilla. Chibi Rodan goes next, telling a story about a doll named Mary that a girl throws away before receiving calls from Mary that get closer and closer. However, as Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, and Chibi Mothra comment and ask questions, Chibi Rodan stumbles over his story and forgets the ending except for "I'm right behind you!". Even Chibi Minilla admits that she didn't find Chibi Rodan's story scary. Chibi Mothra then tells her story, specifying that it isn't talking about herself as she tells the story of a "friend" who is an otaku. Said friend ordered items aligned with her hobbies, only for her twin housemates to sign off on and open the items while she wasn't around. Chibi Godzilla determines Chibi Mothra told a story about herself, scaring her and making her fly back and forth in embarrassment while Chibi Mechagodzilla acknowledges that while her story was dramatic, it wasn't scary. Chibi Minilla agrees and Chibi Godzilla theorizes that she overcame her fear, though Chibi Mechagodzilla counters that the stories simply weren't scary. Chibi Godzilla tests her by claiming ghosts are real in an assertive voice, scaring Chibi Minilla so much that she cries, surprising Chibi Mechagodzilla.
