In the real world

• The Black Death spreads across the countries of Medieval Europe. This pandemic of bubonic plague would wipe out possibly 60% of Europe's population at the time, and contribute to the end to the Middle Ages.

In fiction

• Sometime after Megaguirus introduced the Black Death to Europe and the pandemic reached England, King Edward III sent the knight Gilder on a quest to slay a dragon, which the king thought was the cause of the plague, by finding a temple which held a force powerful enough for such a task. Gilder and his company traveled the English countryside when they were attacked by Meganulon and, shortly after, Megaguirus, the "dragon" that they were after. As Gilder and company fled through a cave, they inadvertently reached the temple that they sought, which was a temple of Mothra. The Queen of the Monsters went to battle Megaguirus, and after a battle defeated her. Gilder contracted the bubonic plague and remained with Megaguirus' carcass as it burnt. Those of Gilder's company that remained after the encounter with the kaiju returned to King Edward's castle, only to be shot on sight as per orders to prevent the spread of the plague.
